The One Hour Escape 'Meisterdieb' is great fun. We were a party of 5 (4 adults, 1 kid) and not very experienced but with our swarm intelligence we managed to escape in time before the 'Meisterdieb' returned from his one hour journey out of his apartment. Some of the riddles exceeded the scope of the room and included real world items / activities ... a truly surprising experience.

Besides the nice story and the fun, we experienced the One Hour Escpae room as a professional setup, well organized and monitored and you felt yourself always safe. I can recommend this to everyone who wants to experience a Room Escape Adventure. This was is classified as 'medium level' of difficulty and it was solvable. We left the venue with a great experience and with a smile after solving the riddle.

Very well organized, A lot of fun. We had a family outing of 10people. Mixed ages and children. Solved both parts just in time but not without help! Well planned and rooms spacious.

Really different and well done

Played a lot of rooms in The Netherlands and also abroad. Outside The Netherlands a lot of rooms are standard and conceptrooms. This one is different and really good.

The Room is original and the puzzels are great. There is a great game flow and the puzzels are logic. Maybe they can only ad some extra music and lights for the the final step to be the best room in the area.

I would highly recommend this room. We played with 2 players, but you can easily do it with more! There is more than enough to do.

My girlfriend and I had a lot of fun completing this room, it is a nod back to the classic style of escape room. We had a great games master too.
The difficulty would be of easy to medium.
The room is available in english too, with no problems.
The dynamics of the room allow for them to make changes to make it easier for kids or harder for more experienced escapees .. like the two of us! :)

The riddles were very interesting, hard and tricky, real shake for our brains! Of course we can’t say much ;) but sometimes when you solve something, happens something very unpredictable that makes you say “Wow” ) Very very cool. And super atmosphere, I really felt like in a movie.

Besides, what we liked a lot is the location. It is in fact right in the centre, a minute walk from tramstation Barfusserplatz and another minute from cinemas and restaurants.

The owners were very friendly and comfortable. We were having much fun and jokes. Thx for a good time! We for sure recommend this Place!

I organised this event for my son's 12th birthday. I think this game is professionally done and great fun. Kids at this age needs some adult help, but they could make a great portion of it. It was fun, it was excitement and they were all proud at the end. I really recommend this place to try.
many thanks for the opportunity.

In the world of “Escape Games“ One Hour Escape in Basel would be the invading alien hordes hellbent on conquering the earth. It was just that much fun!

The location is great, situated through a side street in one of the busier Basel entertainment districts, you should be able to find it rather easily. Up a flight of stairs and a quick knock on a plain looking wooden door sets up a mood where you feel like you’re on a secret mission that only "cool kids" are invited to take part in.

Once we were inside, we were greeted by our hosts, Risa and Koni, and I was impressed by how friendly they were, and how easy it was to grasp the overall concept of this particular escape game. After a few quick sips of the water that was offered pre-escape, my group (of two) was pumped and ready to go!

THE CONCEPT

An infamous cat burglar has stolen an ancient artifact and its up to us to not only find the artifact, but to escape the room within one hour! Solve the puzzles in time and you will escape, unscathed!

GETTING STARTED

Before you start, you’re given a couple of helpful tools to help you on your journey! One is a buzzer thing that reminds me of an electronic garage door opener. It’s designed to be an instant way of asking for help at any time if you get stumped. Small groups of maybe 2-3 people will probably think of this as a godsend, as escape games are sometimes made to be more suitable for slightly larger groups.

In this case, however, it seemed more like a comfort blanket to use in an emergency "need-an-answer-now“ situation IF you really needed it. In addition, there is also a video monitor that is used to display helpful hints for people who seem stuck on a particular puzzle. This is great because if other people are like me, then they will refuse to use the panic buzzer at all costs, and the video screen is a great way to save face for those who refuse to swallow their pride (Like me!).

DIFFICULTY

I LOVED the difficulty setting for this escape game. The puzzles were excellently laid out and gradually became more difficult, but it doesn’t stay high for the whole experience. Some puzzles you can tell were designed to give the brain a little break before taxing it again, and this was really appreciated.

I really would like to go into more detail about the puzzles themselves, but I can´t give anything away in good conscience, BUT I can tell you that this game is money well spent. The types of puzzles that you can expect will be matching, memory-based, and there's even some logic and math peppered in there for good measure to appeal to all puzzle and escape fanatics.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Escape Basel is a great trip for any small sized group or even just couples looking for a great way to learn how to work together. Take your wife or your girlfriend there, and you may spend more time grinning and giggling with each other than solving the puzzles, but soon the competitive spirit will kick in once you glance at the video monitor and see how much time you have left! The area is nice (and safe!) and the room itself is well lit by the sunshine streaming through the large, open windows. Risa and Koni were very professional and courteous, and I think they did an amazing job!

There’s no escaping the smiles and laughs that you are sure to share with friends and family!

This was our first ever escape room, but certainly not our last. I booked this last minute as an impromptu gift for my husband who loves puzzles and mysteries. We were warmly welcomed and from the minute we entered it was non-stop fun. It was so well laid out and enough help to keep us from getting stuck too long. At one moment we thought we were finished and then discovered there was a whole bunch more... the adrenalin rush was real! We were down to the end but finished just before the hour was up. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

We were an adult family and enjoyed this immensely. We didn't manage to escape although there was a surprise towards the end. Young teenagers could also do this with adults but I think any younger they might be bored or not understand. You can choose between a German or English escape. Highly recommend.
