If you are looking for Brazilian contemporary art, then Stiftung Brasilea is definitively your destination in Basel. Apart from a fine permanent collection that showcases the genius of Franz Josef Widmar – an Austrian painter who spent most of his life in Rio de Janeiro and drew inspiration from the milieu where he lived and worked –, the gallery-cum-cultural centre houses high quality temporary exhibitions. All of this with awesome views of the Rhine! In a city known for its close links to contemporary art, Brasilea is a great place to put the Brazilian production in perspective.

Brasilea is the best representation of Brazilian Culture in Switzerland. The Foundation is located by the river Rhine just a 15 minutes walk by the river from the city center. The exhibitions features Brazilian artists and artists from all over the world with art works related to Brazil and its multifaceted culture. Musical events are presented at the vernissages and finissages with a theme related to the exhibitions. The building is a beautiful example of architectural renovation for the arts. Located at the border of 3 countries: Switzerland, German and France. and the staff is really friendly!

I first heard about Brasilea on the Instagram profile of the awesome Brazilian street artist Zezão. I've moved to Basel and this is a place where I certanly will bring friends and family to visit. The building is very interesting and the collection is incredible. I'm very delighted with this artistic exchange between Brazil and Switzerland.

Brasilea is a wonderful place to visit in Basel with an amazing architectural renovation design which holds art exhibitions and musical events related to Brazil and its cultural diversity. It has spectacular views over the river and it is just about a 15 minute walk by the river embankment from Basel's city center. Unmissable! Mariannita Luzzati

BRASILEA is THE place to see Brazilian Contemporary Art in Basel. Due to its inteligent and investigative curatorship, BRASILEA offers 3 to 4 shows a year and presents up to date views of the rich Brazilian panorama in Contemporary Art.

Brasilea offers something unique to Basels already extensive selection of museums and love for art. With it's location in the industrial area of Basel, it is a nice contrast to the traditional and old. The building already offers itself as a piece of art. The infrastructure, the location next to the Rhein and a super friendly and efficient management team are the foundation for great exhibitions and projects.
