The church is a bigger one and also the gothic architecture is fascinating to see. You will probably walk pass the church so it won't hurt to take a look because its free to enter. This is the same church with the elizabethenkirche so don't look for another church around.

We are happy that you found peace within our walls. That is what many people say about the building and the people who form this church. More

Saw the church steeple and thought it might be worth visiting. Glad that I went to see it. Lit a candle. Was welcomed by the volunteers in the church which is an ecumenical church administered by both Catholic and Protestant denominations.

No really...you can. Lovely church with a great history of being built by a man trying to buy his way into heaven. I used to love coming here because it's a bit out of the way of the tourists main routes. Great coffee shop in an artsy church setting ...a cappucino without the cappucine monks. Younger crowd...some tasty snacks as... More

Hi Richard Thank you for your appreciation. Just one correction: Christoph Merian, our founder and donor was very protestant: So he knew he was accepted in heaven and never needed to buy his way into it. He was - besides being rich - also very socially aware. He donated his whole fortune (the biggest single person fortune these days in... More

Lovely church. For 3 Francs you can climb to the top of the tower where you get great views. The staircase to the top is very narrow and a great feat of engineering/construction.

The neo-Gothic church is as beautiful from outside as from inside and the coffee shop is a must-try inside. It is a spectacular feeling to eat inside.

This is a big church and free to enter, it's nice enough but there is nothing that grabs the attention. The towers are open to climb for a small fee and have good views, not quite so good as the minster but a lot cheaper. Nice to see but a quick visit

Was Beautiful as Could be, but was Dusty, and Noisy at time. A lot of construction work was being dealt with.

When you arrive in Basel by train, exit the station, walk to the end of the tram platforms. On your left you'll see a little green park; cross that, then follow the road with the tram rails a couple hundred meters and you'll see the Elizanetenkirche. You cannot miss it - its sharp and tall neo-Gothic features are visible at... More
