The Basel Minster is one of the main landmarks and tourist attractions of the Swiss city of Basel. It adds definition to the cityscape with its red sandstone architecture and coloured roof tiles, its two slim towers and the cross-shaped intersection of the main roof. The Münster is listed as a heritage site of national significance in Switzerland. Originally a... More

A must see place if you are visiting Basel. Look at the roof and spend some time during xmas as they decorate it in and out and around it!

We climbed up the bell tower, you get fantastic views from the various levels, which were well worth the effort. The spiral staircase is quite steep and narrow.

We started our amazing voyage up the Rhine in Basel and had a guided tour of the city. The highlight of the tour was viewing this lovely cathedral. The architecture of this red sandstone cathedral is a sight to see and quite picturesque. The cathedral was originally Catholic but today is Reformed Protestant.

It was worth the payment and going up the narrow stairs. The top area can be a little frightening to people who are scared of heights but it is not dangerous. Some areas need some patience because only one person can walk through some narrow and small stairs so people wait to go the upwards or downwards direction. It is... More

Basel is picture perfect. All of the old town buildings are expertly restored and beautifully maintained. A mammoth task. This is no exception. The stained glass is breathtaking. The architecture stunning. The tombs are incredible especially, for global scholars, Erasmus's spot. Your transported back to medieval times. Soaking all this up is just incredible.

A must see on your visit to Basel. Lovely to walk through and the view of the Rhine from the back of the Cathedral should not be missed. There is a large open square at the front, very picturesque and just lovely to spend time and explore.

The cathedral itself is lovely, but the wide open space next to it is my favorite part of Basel. The buildings surrounding the square {Munsterplatz} are uniformally delightful and you have access to some of the best views over the Rhine. Throughout the year the square plays host to open air cinema, Christmas markets, the Autumn fair (Herbstmesse) and the... More

If you are wandering around Basel this is one place to visit. Go out back and check out the view of the river. As far as cathedrals go not overly impressive.
