I love to spend some time looking at the wall paintings of this building. They are indeed impressive. There is also a market right in the square in front of it during the mornings till lunch time. I strongly recommend the fresh pasta to cook at home or the local cheese to taste local ones or French ones as well.... More

I was drawn to the city hall by the very colorful façade of the building, which was very distinct from all the surrounding architecture. Located right at the center of old town Basel, and a short walk from the Rhine river, Rathaus is very easy to spot. On the day of my visit, entry into the open courtyard was free,... More

What an amazing restoration feat! The paint on the frescos still looks wet. Beautiful courtyard with incredible statues of the day with wonderful expressions. Look skyward to a fairytale tower and the ornate clock and sundial. Step back at the facade and marvel at the overall scale of the building. Amazing!

Basel is a beautiful city and the Rathaus (City Hall) is something you really have to see when you're there. It is the seat of the Basel government & its parliament. Right in the midst of the Old Town, this historical building is particularly eye-catching with its red façade, the characteristic tower & playful frescoes. The oldest part of this... More

The city hall is on Market Square. It is a beautiful red building with fully painted walls surrounding the Inner court.

Basel city can be a mess driving around in so the best thing is the park the car and walk around in the Old Town area. Entering the market place or Town Square you can do nothing but being impressed by the red and colourful Town Hall. The building stands out in the crowd and there are details on it... More

We accidentally stumbled past this en route to the Christmas Market and what a pleasure it was! I could stand and look at it for hours! Inside we walked around the court yard and admired the artwork, worth a visit

After being in Vienna Austria, these attractions are small. But if you want to get out of the hotel for for-hours and walk off some of that free food the Airport Hotel give you, go downtown to Ship Land' spend it walking around (city hall) and the adjacent shops.
