Movement that will leave a smile on your face and hypnotize you in such a way a time stands still. The central location allows for easy access yet this is a tranquil spot in Basel city center. In the height of summer dip a toe in the water to cool off and in deepest darkest winter the water creates the... More

Unfortunately the first day of our stay in Basel the exhibits in the fountain weren't working. The following day when the fountain and the machinery was working it was fascinating to watch.Well worth stopping to view.

Tinguely Fountain is based entirely on Jean Tinguely's machines which move, rotate, and spray water all around. It's a cool place in the center of Basel where you can rest, watch, and enjoy the "show".

Jean Tingueley was an artist we loved and love in Basel. We just call him "Jeannot" or sometimes "Schanno". One of his master pieces is his fountain, also called "Fasnachtsbrunnen" located between the Basel theatre and the traditional restaurant "Kunsthalle" (called "Kunschthöhli" by locals). Not what we expected but well worth a visit if only to contemplate how someone visualized it in the first place! Could do with some sort of seating around the area to be able to enjoy the spectacle more fully.

Situated at front of the Theater Basel, be build from a famous artist. The nice it's that the fountain has different sculptures that are in movement and take water and then let it fall at the fountain. Very nice to see and a very liked place for local people.
