My first impression upon sighting this attraction was one of sheer delight. I couldn't decide if I was looking at the creation of a mad scientist, or the work of a genius. Regardless, my enjoyment of this feature was immense. The operation of the fountain was erratic, yet playful, and with the wrought iron pieces and not stone, it is... More

These fountains are pleasant and worth a look in the daylight, we did see them at night and could not see so much, so went back in daylight.

This fountain by the late Jean Tinguely offers a great view into the work of Tinguely, who by the way is represented also in a separate Museum Holding is Name.

This fountain is located in front of the theater in the old city of Basel. These wrought iron whimsical sculptures were designed by a famous artist born in Basel and trained in Paris. Fun and free public venue for the whole family.

Jean Tinguely has left his mark in Basel: you have the espectacular Tinguely Museum and you have some other attractions in the city, namely the Tinguely fountain. This is a very nice and fun example of Tinguely's work and all love it, since children to all kind of adults.

This is unique and a must see fountain. It's been here since I began visiting Basel in the late 1970s and I really go out of my way to pay homage.... don't miss it!

Well worth stopping to take a look if you happen to be passing. We had parked close by in order to visit the Christmas market and came across this attraction by accident. It was worth stopping!

This fountain is worth visiting even if you see nothing more in Basel! A testament to Tinguely's genius, the fountain stands where the orchestra of the old Basel theatre used to be. In 1977, Jean Tinguely created the nine mechanical sculptures/fountains that seem to play with the shallow water all day. Just sitting on the side and listening to the... More

Designed by Jean Tinguely, this attraction consists of several moving machines which work with water. Each of them doing their own thing, it is quite a pleasure to watch. A must see if in Basel.
