- Laura TRoyal Tunbridge Wells, United Kingdom22 contributionsGreat day outGreat zoo the animals look well cared for and happy. A few babies when we visited, notably rhino, giraffe, okapi, penguin. Seeing the penguin walk was good fun. The vivarium is massive with so many tanks and a wealth of information. The monkeys, chimps, gorillas and orangutans were in their indoor enclosures and we spent ages watching them. There was a young chimp using a stick to get food out of a box, which was brilliant to watch. Food and drink was reasonably priced and you get into the zoo for half price with Basel card which you get for free if spending a night in a hotel/B and B etc. Would definitely recommend a visit to this zoo.Visited December 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten December 7, 2022

Although compact the animals seemed to have decent sized enclosures with natural settings. Orangutans and Two baby Rhinoceros.Visited December 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten December 12, 2022
- Karen Waters42 contributionsFantastic zoo! Great day out.We all absolutely loved this zoo. It was well laid out, had loads of animals, with babies too. The enclosures were clean and thoughtfully planned. Couldn’t fault it, throughly enjoyable day out. Would totally recommend a visit.Visited December 2022Traveled with familyWritten January 13, 2023
- permia40,657 contributionsFirst sighting of kangaroosIt wasn’t only the charming marsupial that was exciting to see as we strolled around the great expanse. Over almost two hours a fine collection of animals and species was to be seen. Prime were the big cats, a snow leopard pacing back and forth and a cheetah perched on high giving full sight advantage. Primates are plentiful and in particular it was marvellous seeing the majestic silver back gorilla. Numerous monkeys were playful and also stocking up on food. Larger of the mammals were impressive, rhinoceros and hippopotamus being especially imposing.Visited October 2022Written February 3, 2023

There were comfortable areas where they could go, inside and outside. The variety of animals, the map to show the way and the explanations were excellent.Visited April 2023Traveled with familyWritten May 2, 2023

- Kimberly W216 contributionsLovely zoo, would recommendVisited here recently with my sister. We used the BaselCard so had 50% off each the total price. The zoo is a good size and we were able to see every animal clearly and the animals were active aswell. We watched the seals feeding session which was informative. A lot of the information signs and information are in German. The aquarium is informative. It’s a great day out and would recommend.Visited August 2023Traveled with friendsWritten August 27, 2023

Quite overpriced for what it is. We were utterly disappointed. They advertize the cats and elephants everywhere, yet we saw no big cats (ie no lions, tigers, jaguars, leopards), there were no elephants and no Rhinos. That in the mid season.
The animals they had you can see in any average zoo in europe for 6-10 euro.
Still i gave two stars (and not 1), because they had amazing big apes

Spent an afternoon here. This is a great way to spend some time in Basel particularly with kids. Saw lots of animals which I had not seen before and I really liked the format and facilities available. It is quite a big zoo and just walking around will take some time. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely day out on a very hot weekday. Lots of animals looking healthy and happy including giraffes and elephants. Reasonable entrance price and easy to navigate around. Social distancing measures in place around the indoor attractions which worked well. Easy walk from Basel centre.

Very impressive zoo. with Basel card we have 50% discount. It is quite difficult with the parking, so best with public transport. Zoo has 2 entrances, so very practical. We went there for my daughter's birthday, and she was so happy to see the Goriilas & Orang utan, her favorites. We even went there again teh next day.
