The congress center Basel is a compact, well organized convention center, complete with all requisite facilities for a small to mid size convention. It is right at the center of Basel, and well connected by Tram and buses. The Swissotel Basel is right next to...More

I performed here as part of the Basel Tattoo festival and can attest to the good acoustics of the venue. The building is undergoing renovations. The building is a victim of an uninspiring time in architectural history and I don't imagine any amount of renovation...More

This seems to be quite an active center during certain days. The circular building is interesting architecturally. There are restaurants lining one side of Messeplatz with outdoor seating.

The convention center covering is impressive from all directions including looking down from the adjacent hotel. Unique in many ways including the green garden roof.

The Messe conference hall is in an amazing building, with really innovative use of metal for the cladding. The centrepiece of the sky view hole is truly brilliant, and it struck me how many people were taking photos of it at any one time. The...More

Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your recent visit with us. The building you describe was designed by Basel architects Herzog & de Meuron. It is linked directly, via a walkway, to the Congress Center Basel.

Beautiful building and a lot of space for conferences but the breakout rooms for sessions are poorly lit and poorly decorated. The large auditorium room however was quite nice as were the acoustics.More

Many thanks for your valuable comment. However, decoration is usually done by the organizer according his ideas. The light in our breakout rooms is dimmable and capable of being controlled separately in the individual sections. Apparently, in your case, it seemed to be dimmed too...More

Romantic restaurants? (3 Replies)
This will be the first time my husband and I will be away alone since our second child was born last year. Can you recommend a romantic restaurant for dinner? We will be staying in the Taksim area. My husband is attending a conference at Istanbul Congress Center. I would prefer restaurants closeby but we'd be willing to take a cab.

tram vs metro question (3 Replies)
Does anyone know what the walk between the Tram 24 stops and the Holiday Inn Congress Center is like - also which stop is the closest. I'll be in Prague in a few weeks and attending an evening concert alone at Municipal Hall. I'm trying to figure out if I would be more comfortable going to the Florenc Metro stop which sounds like it is at a bus station or taking Tram 24 and walking back to the hotel from that. Any opinions on which would be be easier and feel "safer" for a woman alone? Prague...More

Take the red line metro C from Vysehrad to Florenc (direction you want will be Ladvi). Change at Florenc for the yellow line B metro and go one stop to Namesti Republiky (direction you want is Zlicin). When you get off the metro, go to the exits on your right (Namesti Republiky entrance instead of Masarykovo nadrazi entrance). When you come up the escalators, go for the exit stairs straight ahead of you and the municipal building will be on your left. You just walk round to the front...More

Hotel choice for Congress center and city trip (3 Replies)
Travelling to Lisbon in April for a week. 3 days of congress but the rest is for relaxing and discovering the city. Which area or hotel would be both practical for public transport for the congress center, but central or on transport for visiting, finding restaurants etc. Thank you for your help.
