About
Materia Ceramica is a laboratory in which we create original handmade pottery, made using the ancient technique of majolica. The Materia Ceramica's ceramics come from the long tradition of craftsmanship clay typical of Umbria; objects are strictly hand-painted and it is not uncommon to find the owner, as well as master craftsman, working on one of his works in the laboratory. Materia Ceramica is the perfect place to find items that remember your trip to Perugia: the ceramics are painted with views of the landscape of the countryside of the Umbrian territory that evoke impressions that this land left in the minds of its visitor.

This shop has some beautifully made ceramic pieces that are mini works of art. We found many beautiful souvenirs here.

Antonietta Taticchi is a master of illustration but rather than on a canvas, she paints her beautiful handmade pottery with local pastoral scenes: medieval villages, rivers, lakes, olive trees, vineyards, and fields of sunflowers.
Her methods are unique. She decorates glazed terracotta by painting directly on pots, cups and vases. The result is luminous, her serene panoramas stretching effortlessly around a plate or a vase. Every piece is loved and each scene given the time needed to make it perfect.
I recommend visiting her tiny workshop in the centre of Perugia. Taticchi's work begs to be bought. Not just because it's beautiful but also because it’s loved. Highly recommended!

It took my wife, a very undecisive person, about 5 minutes to select a number of beautiful hand made pieces. We found this shop through Maria's brother, at Villa Taticci restaurant in Ponte Pattoli, where some of her pottery is displayed in the villa. Maria and her daughter and son were so helpful and pleasant. We could have spent hours here. Highly recommended.

This is a shop with really lovely hand painted ceramics. There is a wide range from large platters to tiny , very portable, pieces. Everything is hand made and the scenes depicted are all local. Every single piece is unique. A true reminder of a visit to this special part of Italy
