Not always open (but it's easy to check the openings on site), if the opportunity happens it's a visit not to be missed because it is a singular building. With a strong vertical development and an octagonal plan, it already shows an original appearance from the outside. The interior still retains the Gothic structure but the decoration is Baroque. The environment as a whole is not large but the eye is lost in observing the grandeur of the decorative apparatus. Very beautiful frescoes of the vault and walls, stucco decorations and the altar made from a Roman sarcophagus of the third century.

Chiesa Di Sant'Ercolano is a beautiful church built along the city walls at the beginning of the fourteenth century, it is dedicated to the patron Saint Ercolano of Perugia who was martyred in 548 AD.

This church is lavishly decorated, the alter stands on a third century Roman sarcophagus and contains the tomb of St. Ercolano. The building is truly a significant historical structure in Perugia and was a delight to visit.

It's a beautiful Baroque style church that every art or history lover must visit. On our way back to Old Town Perugia we accidentally stopped by and it's safe to say we weren't disappointed.

The church of Sant Ercolano is one of the many churches in the historic center of Perugia, in the lower part of the city just behind the arch of Augustus and the "ladders" Sant'Ercolano. A huge church and a beautiful example of the Baroque style.
