A short walk up the hill at the far end of the center past the cathedral. Magnificent view of the Umbrian hillside. Walk down the stairs to reach piazza Grimana where the arch etrusco and university are located. Buy chocolates or have an ice cream at cafe Perugia

If you want to have a superb view with sunlight, it's nice to visit this tower in the morning to see the sun , the mountains in her solar energy and the sunny medieval city of Perugia.

Incredible view
Apr 2017 • Couples
I give it an excellent because, standing at the top of the winding staircase that goes down to Piazza Grimana, you see a sweeping view of the northern part of the centro storico (historical center) of Perugia, and the beautiful green surrounding countryside. Shutterbugs, this is your place. If you look south from Perugia, you'll see the Tiber valley, which has lots of business and industry. But look north, like here, and it looks like what you expect central Italy to look like.

A good point of panoramic view
Jan 2017 • Couples
First time I've visited this place when I was a student of linguistic centre with a teacher and other students of my group. It's one of 2 points of panoramic view that gives a chance to see the city. It takes only 5 min walk from Piazza 4 Novembre. There's another one on the opposite side of Corso Vannucci, this is my favourite one.

Best view of Perugia! From the end of the main drag in the historic city center, gaze out over the beautiful city of Perugia. Perfect place to enjoy a cup of gelato

the tower is mermerizing, with a sort of a museum inside, which can be entertaining as you go up. The girl attending was also super polite and showed us all around. When in the rooftop of the tower, you have an amazing view of perugia and of l'umbria verde.
it's really beautiful.

Panoramic view / bbreathtaking sunset

Porta del sol is located near the old center of Perugia (from piazza IV Novembre you can walk here easily)

One of the highest points of Perugia offers a breathtaking view over the old city, I recommend especially at sun set (a terrace bar is also available).

While visiting Perugia you basically have two options to get here: visit first the old center and than take the stairs down or start from down the hill, take the stairs to Porta del Sol and than visit town center.

I recommend starting up the hill by visiting:

- the beatifull old town center (la Cattedrale, il Palazzo dei Priori)
- then follow with a short visti at "il Pozzo degli Etruschi"
- follow left to Piazza Raffaello to visit Cappella di San Severo where the famous afresco from 500 by Raffaello e Perugino can be admired
- return up to Porta del Sole to admire the panoramic view
- take the staires down and continue visit with Etruscan Arch,, Tempio di San Michele Arcangelo and so on

One of the most beautiful sightseeings of the town. Stunning at every time of the day, gives a feeling of freedom as you taste some history through the surroundings. A must see.
