We entered this church after visiting other more grand churches in Assisi. The simplicity and quiet found in this church invited me to stay for hours. There is a special sacredness that surrounds this ancient building tucked in amid a garden and other medieval structures....More

Wirth a visit if you are in assisi anyways. The church is very small and build in a simple way and the decorations are sparse. The area arond the church offers great views and a nice little staircase. When Francis died, in the neighbour town,...More

We changed upon this lovely little Romanesque church (1050 - 1150). It has also been called rustic Umbrian because of the simple lines. It is a nice break from the larger churches in Assisi and just the kind of church St. Francis would have liked....More

It´s a small and simple Romanesque church, like it was in the times of St. Francis, just the condition of the frescoes look to be worse (shame). It is a backstreet gem, without noisy people, the best place to feel spirituous and pray in silence....More

This small church had been recommended for a visit and we were pleased we took the time to follow through. Very simple, ancient and still used. An oasis of peace and calm (at least on the day we visited).

This 12th century church is very plain, almost austere. The façade consists of an entryway above that is a window. Inside the church, which maintains its medieval appearance, is a single nave with small windows for lighting. There are 2 frescos adorning one wall, one...More

We have visited many wonderful places and this spot is terrific. Peaceful and tranquil. We see why St. Francis loved it.

I was told that many Sienese choose this small church for their weddings. I can see why. It is humble and quiet, and simple. We walked in as a mass was going on, and a cat who had been seated between two people, came to...More

Walk back into the days of Saint Francis. This romanesque church has a phantastic fresco of the Madonna with Saints Francis and Stephen. Holy Eucharist at 09.00 hrs is a blessing.
