The church first mentioned in 1132, it has been reborn many times. The bell tower dates from the mid 1800’s and the façade from the mid 20th century. The interior is a central nave with 2 side aisles, with 4 chapels. Just inside the entry portal on the right is the Chapel of the Baptistery with the baptismal font that is thought to have been used when Leonardo da Vinci was baptized on April 16, 1452.

We attended mass in this beautiful little church at 11am on Sunday. Obviously in Italian but it wasn’t hard to guess what was happening as the rites in all Catholic Churches are pretty much similar.
We felt very welcome by the small local community and our children were even invited to bring the offerings.
Even if you are not attending mass I would highly recommend taking a few minutes to leisurely absorb the peace and beauty of this little church. In many ways I find these smaller churches more authentic than the crowded and massive cathedrals.

Nothing much outside to indicate its importance but rather nice inside. It's well worth a look as it is just across from the muesum

it is next to the Museum of Leonardo, so with a few steps you can enter and see what is said to be the baptismal site of Leonardo, it is a romanic church so it is worth the entrance, and is free

This is a small and relatively simple church. The key features are the baptistery and the baptismal font where Leonardo Da Vinci is assumed to have been baptized.
