Every concert will show an unique selection of the most famous arias and duets, taken from the great Italian opera. Masterpieces interpreted by great artists who have been performing on stages of the best theaters both in Italy and abroad. Exciting concerts, where you can recollect the passions of Tosca, the emotions of Madama Butterfly, La Bohème and La Traviata, the prank of Il barbiere di Siviglia and much more… A memorable trip into the Italian Opera, made even more enjoyable by the evocative and intimate atmosphere in which it takes place: the deconsecrated Church of Santo Stefano. From March to November: every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 9.15 pm

Excellent singer and pianist. The venue was a former church and the sound was very good. Performance was approximately 1 1/2 hours with a short intermission. Just the right amount of time for this cultural evening.

A very pleasant evening spent listening to three talented musicians singing and playing the piano. The show featured some favourite arias as well as some not quite so famous. The event was well attended by an audience comprising of many different nationalities, all of whom seemed to thoroughly enjoy the experience.

For a start the title is misleading. You will not hear an opera. This is a middle of the road, popular aria evening for tourists. For anyone seriously interested or experienced in opera, attendance is not recommended. The singers are more concert performers and would probably fit nicely into an operatic chorus. The accompanist was excellent, was the star of the show and makes sure everyone knows it. It was she who was first to jump up to invite the audiences applause and who then encouraged the audience to also compliment the singers. If you do go, get a seat from the middle to the back of the hall. The singing will probably sound better the further back you are.
La Scala it is not.

Pleasant setting, good musicians, selection of beautiful classic excerpts; but the sound was often harsh, as in a concrete echo chamber. I covered my ears often because the power of the voices overwhelmed the venue. If they put up tapestries or something to modulate the acoustics, the beauty of the music and the musicianship of the artists could be much better appreciated.

I attended this opera this evening with my fiancé it was a spectacular performance in an intimate setting the theater holds approximately 75 people and the performers give you the feeling that they are doing the performance in your own living room. This is an intimate setting with strong singers and it accomplished pianist. I would strongly recommend everyone to see this as this was the highlight of our visit to Tuscany. Moreover I propose to my fiancé at the completion of the show with the assistance of the performers !
My engagement was announced by the tenor and I got down on my knee and proposed the entire audience erupted in delight. We will never forget Italian opera in Siena !💕💕💕

In the absence of the ‘real thing’, this (for €20 each) provides a good operatic taster and makes for a very pleasant evening. The performance takes place in the small deconsecrated church of San Stefano – a pleasant venue about a 15-minute walk from the centre – and consists of a pianist and soprano providing well-known arias from such Italian favourites as Tosca, Madame Butterfly, and La Traviata. I’m sorry that I failed to make a note of their names, but the pianist was accomplished, and the soprano had such a powerful voice that it might have been better suited to a larger auditorium. The result was, if not desperately moving, exciting enough – and can be recommended for visitors with a free Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday evening (May to October; Wednesday or Saturday, March to April). The 9.15pm start conveniently allows for a pre-concert dinner nearby, and we were pleased to find Ristorante Salotto, just two minutes away, round the corner in Via Camollia.

Three of us visited in October 2019. Our hosts at Frances Lodge purchased tickets for us to the Opera on Saturday night in Sienna. Second row seats front and center - fabulous. Our driver dropped us off at the steps of the building.

Two ladies performed; one on piano and one sang (Claudia Ciabattini and Maria Teresa Guarracino). I still get chills remembering the evening. Such a beautiful performance in such a beautiful city. This was our second opera in Italy. Both were quaint and lovely. It is a MUST when you visit.
We count ourselves very fortunate to have experienced such a beautiful evening.

My husband and I and a friend attended the show. There was a soprano and pianist. They were both fabulous. The show was 2 x 30 minute segments with an intermission where you were able to purchase a wine or water. For 20 Euros it was a fun experience.

This was a delightful evening with fabulous talent. Inexpensive (20 euros) in a beautiful small church. If you have a chance, this is a must do event while in Siena. Highly recommended.
