The small chapel-like gallery that features giant frescos of St. Catherine's life is beautiful. Use the audio guide to understand the paintings. Easy to see and appreciate. Across the breezeway is the actual church with the famous cross through which Christ appeared to St. Catherine. Open in the morning and again at 3:00pm. Inspiring story of a holy young girl... More

We very nearly missed this one and only found it on our last day. If we had missed it we would have missed one of Siena's real gems. The fresco's in the chapel are a real treat and compared to many of Siena's churches this is very small but certainly should be ranked up with some of the major sites.

This castle and church could be easily missed, but they are certainly worth a bit of a side trip between the main cathedral area and the bus station. Free to look around and beautiful inside, don't miss it!

Quiet and peaceful Casa to visit the patron saint of Siena. Interesting to find out about her life and influences. The floors and artwork inside are beautiful.

We visited both sights, the Chapel of the crucifixion which was filled with art that depicted parts of St Catherine's life . Across the courtyard was the sanctuary. What a magnificent place. Beautiful art, the cross where she had her vision, painted ceilings and walls. As good as any church or cathedral we have ever visited.

Lovely atmosphere here, a kind of cloisters set beside the street of fabric dyers where St Catherine was born. Looking into her life, she was a very interesting and influential woman.

We did a quick stop here. The artwork in the little church is very impressive. One of my favorite parts was the sun rays coming through the painted glass over the door and magically illuminating the Madonna in the painting on the left side when facing the wall. Worth a visit and the fact that it's free is a nice... More
