I loved taking an Italian language and cooking class here. Their language classes are immersive and structured, perfect for first time learners. Laura was a wonderful teacher and tailored her teaching style to the level of the class. The cooking classes were a bit crowded at times and thus, weren't conducive to learning all of the dishes taught. Overall, a great way to learn Italian culture with flexibility on timing.

I am shocked that this isn't rated higher on tripadvisor. This was by far one of the best experiences I've ever had. I wasn't sure how I would like taking a cooking class but it was so much fun. The instructors were so funny and kind. They are a husband/ wife team and did a great job of teaching us all. We had 10 people in our class and everyone helped cook everything so you got experience making all parts of the meal. We made a four course meal including homemade ravioli. The food was phenomenal. I couldn't believe that 10'people with little to no cooking experience were able to make a meal that good. We ate our meal in a separate room from the kitchen and the 10 of us sat and ate and laughed for hours. We would have stayed there all night if the building wasn't closing. I really wished I had booked more cooking classes with this company. There were a few people in the class that liked it so much they had been doing the cooking class every night on their stay. Yes, it was that good!! I highly recommend this to everyone, regardless of if you have cooking experience. You will love this cooking class.

Art and Cooking is a fantastic program in the heart of Siena. The instructors are outstanding, incredibly knowledgable but also extremely patient. They made cooking complex and daunting dishes accessible and fun. I not only learned how to cook numerous new plates but I also felt capable of going home and replicating what we had done in class from memory. In every class we cooked an antipasto, a primo, a secondo, and a dessert. My intention with the program was to begin a career in the culinary arts and I am greatly satisfied with what the program had to offer and everything I learned. I began the program with zero kitchen experience, while the other young man enrolled with me had worked in a professional kitchen for a number of years. However, the instructors have designed the course so that people with any level of culinary skill will be able to thrive in their classes. This school is fantastic for all levels and all intentions. I felt that it gave me a great understanding of many skills and recipes that would be needed in a professional kitchen. But I also had lessons with other people who were visiting Siena and simply wanted a one time cooking lesson as a part of their vacation, and they always seemed blown away by their experience at the school. As far as I'm concerned if you're interested in learning how to cook exquisite Italian cuisine Art and Cooking is a must.

Entering into this class as a family with two adult children, we anticipated a hands on experience lasting several hours, where everyone in our group would have a chance to prepare each course of a full Italian meal. However, this was not the case. At the beginning of the class the chef gave a brief overview of each course at different stations around the kitchen lasting ~10mins total. Afterwards the group was split up among the stations to prepare the meal. Instead of everyone getting to try their hand at preparing each part of the meal as expected, we were only allowed to work on our assigned course, making it impossible to see and learn each part of the meal. For example, part of our group spend the entire class preparing stuffed tomatoes, and never got a chance to learn how to prepare the dough for the pasta. Additionally the entire preparation process took approximately 1 hour, and felt rushed for a class that was supposed to be instructional. Overall, for the price of the course, we could have had an exceptional meal at any of Siena's finest restaurants. Additionally, the course used tomatoes from jars and pre grated Parmesan from a bag, which seemed like the cheap way out for a town in the center of Italy's agricultural region. Very disappointing for something we thought would be the highlight of our trip based off the previous reviews left on this website.

The Dante Alighieri School of Siena is among the top institutions providing study abroad programs, internships, and extracurricular activities for students coming to Siena. The three months I spent working under the supervision of the Dante School we’re foundational to my current professional prospects and the success that I have had as an individual student of Italian language, culture, civilization, and history. If you are contemplating spending the money to make this program a part of your life, do it! You will not regret your decision.

Luca Bonomi and his staff at the Dante School have an extensive network of connections both in Siena and beyond. Their willingness to facilitate language lessons, cooking classes, and field trips exceeds the expectations of even the most demanding patrons. I felt that every dollar I spent on the trip was carefully utilized by the Dante School to ensure that I, as a student, had every opportunity to grow.

What was most impressive was the internship that I was able to obtain thanks to the hard work of the Dante School. With a passion for the law and the support of The Dante School, I was able to land a position working for a government sponsored refugee processing firm. Working alongside some of the most fantastic Italian lawyers, learning from the difficult cases we had to deal with, and the discussing my daily work with the staff back at the Dante School made my internship an intellectually enlarging experience.

If you get the chance to work with the Dante School, do it! They will not disappoint.

My wife and I took 4 lessons. Each time it was a different menu with 2 different chefs. It was hands-on, not intimidating and just lots of fun. Afterwards, you eat with the group, drink wine with the meal you have jointly prepared, laugh, talk and enjoy the meal and the company.

Dear Friends and most kind and patient teachers,
How precious are the memories of the month that we spent with you, trying your patience to the utmost in your brave and patient attempts to get some of the beautiful Italian language into our numb-skulls.
The experience of living for a month in Siena was, for us coming from South Africa, a most marvellously educational experience on its very own, apart from the joy and pain of trying to learn something of the sublime language used by Dante, St. Catherine of Siena and by taly's astonishingly beautiful Saints, artists, architects, musicians and noble laity.
The cultural expeditions that you arranged for us during our all too short a stay with you, when we were shown some or the beauties of Siena were unforgettable lessons in history, art, spirituality and beauty.
Who after seeing the pavimento and the other unequalled treasures of the Duomo will ever be the same again? Who after visiting the Basilica of San Domenico with its relics of St. Catherine and the Church of Sand Francisco St. Francisco with its stupendous Eucharistic Miracle can be but profoundly moved in his soul and mind?
Often when we think back to those deliriously happy days that we spent with you in Siena, we wish with all our hearts that we could return again to your school and once more experience the uniquely beautiful atmosphere of Siena and learning something of its history and that of Medieval Italy, and being able to proceed with the marvellous voyage of adventure into la lingua Italiana.

We took this cooking class kind of last-minute and could join a group of language students. We had a lot of fun preparing the food together and afterwards enjoyed our selfmade meal. The chef explained everything in Italian and his lovely assistant translated it into English for us. It was by far the best food we had on our trip through Tuscany. The cooking class was really awesome and we would definitely take another class there if we ever come to Siena again.

This was a super experience! The two instructors made the group prepare the meal with their excellent guidance. I highly recommend this class to give you a real experience of Tuscany. I would do this class over and over again.
