Don’t skip entering this Cathedral, it is even more stunning inside than from outside. Pulpit by Pisano, sculptures by Michaelangelo, artwork by Donatello, intricate mosaic floor - so much to take in and appreciate. And to top it all, there’s this library with 500 year old frescoes still intact.

Beautiful inside and out, marvel at the marble floors and ceilings and all the frescos and paintings in between. Outside is simply marvellous, sit opposite in the shade and soak up the view. Don’t be put off by the queue, you can order your ticket on line and collect, its well worth it.

NOT TO BE MISSED. Best cathedral we saw in our entire trip to Florence. Highly recommend! Beautiful and stunning outside, interesting inside. Siena is a really great place to visit for a true feel for a mideival town that's not as bustling and busy as Florence.

This huge cathedral can be seen easily from a distance but as you get closer to it, it becomes hidden by the surrounding buildings until you round a corner and are amazed by its beautiful facade. To enter, you must purchase a ticket (5 euros) to the left of the entrance. There are also other combination tickets that let you see additional parts of the cathedral complex. We purchased the 20 euro ticket that included the rooftop ‘Gates of Heaven’, nearby museum with a great view of the cathedral, baptistery and crypt. The price wasn’t cheap, but this let us fully experience everything that the cathedral had to offer.

We visited the Duomo when there were no entrance fees. An amazing iconic place with works from Michelangelo, Donatello, Ghiberti, Bernini. Incredible mosaic marble floor. Gothic architecture and art at its peak.

Italy's most exquisite cathedral! The interior's lofty ceilings, floor-to-ceiling marble mosaics, columns of black and white marble, and elaborate sculptures really left me speechless. There's also the beautiful ceiling in the library. To exchange your pass for a genuine ticket if you bought yours through GetYourGuide, you have to line up on the LEFT side of the cathedral. After that, you can enter the cathedral without having to wait in line.

A not to be missed call if in Sienna. The outside is spectacular and there can be long queues to see the inside but that is even more mind blowing and well worth the wait. Unfortunately, as I found out, you need to queue up twice. Once to get the ticket and then a second time to get in, I went late afternoon and it was not as bad as when I was there earlier in the day.

We recommend that you buy the Porta del Cielo all inclusive pass at the Duomo. Depending on the time of day you may have to line up to purchase the ticket but it was well worth the money. It grants you entrance to the Duomo, Crypt, Battistero, the Library, the Museo dell’Opera and the Porta del Cielo. The ticket is good for three days, one admission to each feature. The views from the Porta del Cielo tour are stunning! This is the only part of the ticket for which you must book a time. WARNING!! This tour and a visit to the Panorama in the Museo dell’Opera Are NOT for those afraid of heights, suffer from claustrophobia or those persons with mobility issues—there are well over 70 steps to climb just to begin these two features and very narrow walkways to navigate. Having said that—do Not miss the stunning artwork and views if you are lucky enough to be in Siena.

This was probably the most beautiful cathedral we saw during our 15 days in Italy. The one in Florence may be bigger, but this one may be even more stunning. We purchased our tickets mid-day, no line, no crowds. So much to see - be sure and look up, down and all directions... every surface is just incredible.

We visited the Duomo today. The ticket office line was well organised and quick. We bought the full ticket including all attractions. This was a little more expensive, but well worth it. The Gate of Heaven visit adds €5 per person, but you get to walk through the roof spaces, looking down into the cathedral and then out onto the edge of the dome. The views are amazing, both inside and out. Other attractions include the Piccolomini Library, the crypt, the baptistery, the museum and the very high walk along the walls of the new cathedral, which only has one wall! Add to this amazing marble floors, stunning ceilings and many beautiful statues, this is a cathedral worthy of your time. We spent four hours seeing everything.
