Like someone just said – It is indeed true that this place is really very easy to miss as you walk towards the square. We were with our buddies from the wine tour which is why this became our mandatory first stop for some pretty clicks! The location does give scope for beautiful pictures. The history is amazing ofcourse but... More

We saw folks taking pictures of this unassuming building only to realised it is actually the world's oldest surviving bank !

This is where Italy's banking started and currently one of the largest in Italy. Just minutes from the Campo and certainly is one of the highlights of any Siena tour.

The Monte dei Paschi is (one of) the oldest Bank in the world (1472), the main economical unit of the town and the 4.th bank in Italy. it deserves a look

Amazing building you can visit at not cost but is not always open so you need to go early in the day and it is worth a stop not sure if at the weekends is open but can always get information locally.

After you've seen the amazing Siena cathedral and plaza campo everything else seems lackluster. That said we did enjoy the view of the building but it's not a must do attraction.

Wandering around Siena I came across a beautiful building on a piazza and lots of people snapping pictures of it. I asked a friendly tourist what was the building and he said it was either a palace or church but the architecture was impressive. It seemed closed so I returned early the next day, walked in and asked to look... More

I was very fortunate to be able to participate in a school excursion to the Banca Monti dei Paschi di Siena , the world's oldest bank still in operation, founded in 1472. The bank is located at the Piazza Salimbeni right in the middle of the historical center of Siena. The place is full of interesting history, precious art and... More

The bank was the oldest bank in the region as Siena was a commercial banking region. One should definitely go see it as it a central historic sight.

World's oldest bank and still in operation. I believe our tour guide said since the 1400's....WOW. It's free to visit but unfortunately it was closed when we were there. The piazza it is in is so Gothic and lovely.
