The Renaissance interior of this Basilica is beautiful, but some of its chilling displays of dead religious notables may give you nightmares, including a shrouded skeleton with a wax head and a mummified body.

A church open for prayer so off the tourist track. Very peaceful and quiet. Great views of the Siena Cathedral and the Palazzo Publico from in front of the Church.

Don't miss the Lorenzetti fresco painting on the right-hand side chapel, and above all don't miss the view from the front steps looking back at the city skyline of Siena!

The Basilica of Santa Mari dei Servi is, I see on the web, rarely noted among the more splendid churches of the Servite Order. We were wandering Siena, out for a long walk last fall and came across this large but othewise unimposing structure. A handful of touristy looking folk were leaving so we went inside. No one asked us... More

Nowhere near as famous or frequented as the famous Duomo of Sienna, but beautiful in its own right with some great frescoes and paintings within. Also a great vantage point to look over the city,

i was hesitant to go here but we had a pass to go to this and four other places so i used it, it was the last thing i did though. its hard to dislike anything about churches or religion directed buildings for there was always such devotion to the purpose of every detail. the stairs almost killed me but... The great cathedral of Siena is one of the masterpieces of Europe. There are a number of works of art, to study and admire. The ticket that lets you into the basilica, also gives you access to the baptistry, the lookout tower and more. Well worth the visit, and best of all the cost. Hopefully they will keep it at... We bought tickets to this as part of a package deal, but this was way far away from the Duomo. Poorly marked, we had trouble finding it

The atmosphere of this church is very peaceful, and there are some beautiful paintings to enjoy, including the remains of some old frescoes.Check out the Salome dancing very sedately before Herod - chapel to the left of the altar.

On the day of our visit we had this lovely church to ourselves. It contains an art collection, some of which date as far back as 1261,as well as a holy water stoup dating from 13C. From the steps of the church there are lovely views over Siena. Escape the crowds and seek out this church....it's worth the effort!

A true beauty at the South end of Siena. The church has some fin baroque pieces, and a some beautiful religious art. While not as grand as the Duomo, it is much more prayerful.
