My wife, Amy, and I have taken this tour with Donatella three times now and every tour seems better than the last. But, they have all been absolutely wonderful and warmly memorable.
This trip to Italia, we took two other couples with us and we toured all over Tuscany and beyond for two weeks. At the end of our trip, everyone voted the day we spent with Donatella as their very favorite day.
Donatella's wine tour is very personal and you meet the vineyard owners who will treat you as long time friends. Every vineyard is unique and very special in some way. Setriolo, in the Chianti region, is one of our favorite stops. You can Google "Setriolo Winery" and learn about them. Susannah, the owner, is a very special lady and she has worked very hard to build her vineyard to what it is today. She is proud of Setriolo and will make you feel right at home if you are lucky enough to visit.
Donatella customized our latest tour for us and she can do the same for you if you are taking others with you. If you have a favorite Italian wine and you contact her far enough in advance, Donatella can very likely arrange a tour to the area that grows the grapes and bottles your favorite wine category.
A special treat and highlight of the tour day is a gourmet lunch, usually in a private home where you are treated like family. It's delicious, great fun, and you are sure to make new Italian friends. This is unlike anything we have experienced on any other wine tour.
While Italy is still on a restricted schedule as of this writing due to Covid -19, you can still begin planning your trip for a time when things return to "Normal." You will find Donatella very responsive and very pleased to answer all of your questions about her wine tour in Tuscany.
It is my hope that the pandemic ends soon. We are already looking forward to our next trip back to the country where we now feel very much at home. We also look forward to spending another day with a very special friend . . . Donatella Nonni.
If you are looking for a very pleasant and very special day in the rolling hills of Italy, I encourage you to consider a "Wine Tour in Tuscany."

My husband and I have had the pleasure of touring both the Chianti and Montepulciano regions on two separate occasions with both Donatella and Dario, and each time was spectacular. For both tours, we visited 3 different wineries and enjoyed very special, intimate lunches. We loved getting to visit local producers we would have otherwise not had the chance to experience, and Donatella and Dario were both engaging, highly knowledgeable, and simply amazing. We've been on many wine tours around the world (Bordeaux, Penedes, Napa, Willamette Valley...) and this tour is the best of them all. This is a must when in Tuscany!

Donatella is an amazing guide! It seems that she knows everyone in the Italian wine business. My wife and I spent two days with her, one on her Chianti tour and one on her Montalcino tour. Compared to a previous trip where my wife and I arranged our own tours, I would highly recommend Donatella instead. She excels at connecting you with smaller, family-owned wineries that provide an authentic, personable experience (and great wine!). We plan to connect with Donatella again if our travels bring us back to Italy.

After the pandemic delay of one year & some re-scheduling we finally arrived in Firenze. Hooray! Only to have me mess up our tour date...so we ended up leaving a bit late. Donatella ~ I am so, so sorry! (a cancelled flight from the US & a lost day had me in a brain fog) She was very understanding & off our family went for the day. She is so knowledgeable & just as fun as she was the first time we went on the Chianti tour six years ago. My sons & partners thought the day was fantastic & got such a kick out of her driving :) She makes the tour fun for anyone...at any age! As a surprise treat, she arranged for my husband to see a friend he made on the 1st tour we did in 2015. How special this experience/lunch was & we truly appreciated her efforts to do this for him. Marco ~ your stories are still a treat! Each place we stopped was unique & each vineyard shared their stories with us about producing their wine. She obviously has a wonderful connection with these small vintners & it makes the day feel very personal. I cannot recommend her tours enough! She is worth every penny! I only wish we could go back someday & experience her other tours. *I made sure I threw a coin in the Trevi Fountain in Roma with this very wish!

Donatella hosted us on a full day tour in Montalcino a couple years ago - and it was such a delight. Now she has opened up communications with a few of the small wineries for her customers to purchase Brunello, Rosso and Extra Virgin Olive Oil...and we just received our shipments...it was wonderful to get a touch of Tuscany in our home.

My fiance and I had just gotten engaged, and this wine tour was recommended to us by a friend. It was hands down the best and most memorable experience from our trip to Italy. Donatella was extremely responsive when it came to communication via email and booking the Brunello tour....and Dario, our guide, was absolutely fantastic -- very professional but at the same time a fun guide to have on a wine tour. You'll taste great wine and have great conversations with the wine producers and families who own the vineyards. I could go on and on about this tour but don't want to spoil the fun! If you have an opportunity to join Donatella and Dario for this experience, please do! You won't regret it. We can't wait until our next trip with Dario!

My wife and I were going to be in Tuscany for a few days, so I asked everyone that I know if they had any experience wine tasting in the region. Everyone that I spoke with who had gone wine tasting in Tuscany raved about their experience, but the one that was most appealing to me was this small group tour (8 people) hosted by Donatella and her son, Dario. It was more expensive, yes, but also more intimate and personal than many of the larger groups would have been.
First off, Dario is great and set the tone early-on for what would be an enjoyable day. We visited 3 small wineries that specialized in Chianti Classico and at each one we sat down and tasted with the owner. These aren't the kind of wineries that have big tasting rooms and people coming and going. These tastings are hosted in the owner's home or garden and, as far as I'm concerned, that is the best way to taste!
After that, we were taken to a villa, where we sat down with the owner of the villa and enjoyed a homemade lunch that was prepared by his wife (when I went inside the villa to use the restroom, his wife was in the kitchen making pasta by hand.) He poured wine from his cellar and we enjoyed our lunch "al fresco" on a sunny afternoon. It was wonderful!
After lunch, Dario asked if we might be interested in visiting one more winery. The group was at the tipping point (having enjoyed quite a bit of wine throughout the day), but we decided we could manage one more winery. That's what I love about the small group - it's so much easier to make decisions like that. We were strangers to the 3 other couples on the tour when the day started, but we were all hugging by the day's end. What a great experience!

This tour was a recommendation and that turned out to be the greatest gift we could have been given! This was hands down the best day of our honeymoon! We had originally booked in 2020 and Donatella was very accommodating in helping us reschedule over 2 years later! And wow, was it worth the wait!! It was just my husband and I on the tour and we truly felt like VIPS. The wineries Donatella picked were so lovely - no commercial, overrun wineries here! Each winery was a small, typically family run establishment. We had to opportunity to meet the owners and even sit down with them and chat while we tasted their delicious wine - which we shipped home from every place we went! Lunch was so delicious and special as well. We went in November when they pick all the olives and we even got to see an olive oil press in production! I truly can't say enough great things about this tour, but all you need to know is BOOK IT! You won't regret it, I promise. Our day with Donatella is the first thing we mention when people ask about our honeymoon. It was absolutely a one of a kind experience. We love having our wine back home in the states and getting to relive this wonderful day all over again! I can't wait to rebook when we return some day. Grazie mille, Donatell!

We had a wonderful day doing the Brunello tour with Donatella, visiting 5 wineries who made time for us even during a harvest day, which was very special for us. Each had wonderful wines and other products of their farms, including wonderful homemade meats, olive oils, and honey. Between these visits Donatella educated us on the wines, the region, and the regulations around the different types of wine. We highly recommend spending a day with Donatella, our only question is which tour to try next!

We had a fantastic day with Donatella exploring the vineyards and food of the Chianti Classico region around Greve. We liked everything about it - from the off-the-beaten path wineries she chose (all of which run by friendly, committed, interesting people who also happen to make great wine) to the lunch with a local artist in the garden outside his house. Donatella is knowledgable, amiable, and funny and did a great job driving us around the narrow (sometimes dirt) roads of the Tuscan hills. Much better than anything we could have done or arranged ourselves. Highly recommend.

Where does this tour depart from? Our cruise ship is coming in to La Spezia, is this nearby?
Written August 26, 2023
Enjoy Cinque Terre!
The wine tour is based out of the Sienna/Montalcino area of Tuscany which I suspect is unfortunately too far from La Spezza.
Winetourintuscany has an instagram site that the operators monitor if you want to be 100% sure!

This was a great review. We only have two days off a ship in the Tuscany area in October. Do you think a full day with this tour is worth it?
Thank you from a St. Louis, Door County person/traveler.
How do we book this tour? I don't seem to see a link on trip advisor.
We have a small group travelling and this review makes me want to book the tour.

My apologies for the delay in responding. I hope it's not too late for your October trip planning. I would so recommend spending the day with Donatella if you enjoy wine. We've done the Chianti tour and the Brunello tour and they were both just fantastic. Both times we've paid for the optional lunch - totally worth it with local cooks.
I can't post the site, but just search for "wine tour in tuscany" as a single word. From her website you can also get to her Instagram page - she posts fairly frequently there.
Good luck and if you book, I think your group will be very happy.

I haven’t been able to connect to book after my initial contact three weeks ago. I’ve sent 4 emails from two different accounts and have been checking my junk email. They responded to my initial inquiry quickly but didn’t give info on how to book. Anyone had contact with them recently?

Written September 3, 2019
Honestly, I can't remember what we paid but it was well worth the cost. We've been on other tours that were more expensive and less expensive. This tour is limited to about 5 couples. Donatella is extremely knowledgeable in her field.

We are staying outside Florence-if we book with you do you pick us up at our location or do we have to get to a central location?
Written April 7, 2019
They send detailed information about their meeting site. There are probably rules and regulations about picking up clients within the city limits of Florence.
