One of the best family vacations ever. The whole week was great. Each day had one or two or 3 unexpected surprises. The walk around the rim of Mt. Vesuvius, making pottery, the tour beneath the church, time on the beach, the hike to the waterfalls. Every restaurant had amazing views.
The food at the restaurants was excellent. Our guide ordered for us so we could try Mediterranean food that we probably would never have orders.
The walking was great; While everyone in the family is active and in good shape; heads up you need to be ready for some up and down hills; Our local guide took use to places we could never see on our own: a local wine and bread maker- demonstration and eating in his kitchen; lunch in the lemon groves with a local farmer- the food and the views were unbelievable; one evening we took a boat to a restaurant on the sea; our guide help me plan walk along the pathway of the Gods from Amalfi to Positano; the views were breathtaking. Matteo was our local guide; he turned a great trip in to one that will have lasting memories for everyone in my family.

My wife and I just completed back-to-back tours of Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast, and our expectations were far exceeded. Italy is a treasure chest of history and amazing experiences, and the beauty of Walk About Italy's tours is that you have a local expert with the knowledge, perception and skill to select the most beautiful towns to visit as well as unique local activities. We could not have come close to replicating this had we tried. Gianni is like a curator who selects the finest jewels on offer to create an unforgettable experience. The tour guides were knowledgeable, friendly and fun. We cannot recommend Walk About Italy more strongly. M. Jensen and D. Bloomer

Sicily walking tour was perfect way to see much of the east coast and gorgeous Aolian islands (Lipari and Salina). The walking is always pleasant and not arduous. Each dinner, walk, hotel or experience is carefully chosen by Gianni and his guides. Many just wouldn’t be possible to organise without local expertise. On Lipari we had such a special dinner in a farmhouse overlooking the sea at sunset prepared by a local young chef…..highly recommended small group tour! Almost all of our group had done other walks with Walk About italy…obviously a very good sign!

Our walking tour of Tuscany was amazing, personal, and a great combination of walking, sight seeing, history, culture, agriculture, food, wine and of course, lots of fun. Many unexpected add-ons and special effort made it a richly rewarding experience, which I can highly recommend. Actually, it was everything I had hoped for ,but more. I just cannot wait to do the next walking tour, thank you Gianni and the team. Certainly worth the money and effort to travel to Italy.

We booked a Walks tour to Tuscany. It was supposed to be a 12-hour day in an 18 passenger bus. It ended up being only the two of us signing up, so we were put in an SUV with a driver and guide! How lucky was that? We drove north from Rome to Pienza, did cheese tasting, visited a fort, had lunch at a farm and did a wine tasting tour. It was wonderful and on our schedule. Our guide Francisco was great and our driver zipped us around faster than a bus tour would have been, cutting a couple hours of the tour. Really enjoyed this tour!

I can really recommend the Sicily walk having just returned after a walking tour with 6 other couples, all friends of ours. The walks were just strenuous enough to know that you earned the spectacular lunch that was to come, but not difficult by any means. It was particularly hot our first three days with the Sirocco winds blowing, but each day we got to have a swim in the sea or a river - so that was very welcome.
This was my second experience with Walk About Italy, having done Tuscany in 2019 with another group of friends - all girls that time. Sicily was different to Tuscany, as it should be, but no less enjoyable.
I loved learning the history of the places we visited, which you wouldn't get by visiting these places without an informed guide. We were fortunate to have Gianni for the entire tour and he manages to impart all his knowledge in a fun way
The food was spectactular and the hotels really good
Highly recommended

Wow what a great trip! the views were amazing, the food outstanding, the experience intimate compared to a bus tour. Gianni and his staff took excellent care of us and the experiences we had were definitely worthwhile.
I totally recommend this trip, however, be aware that you have to be a strong walker/hiker to do it. There are LOTS of stairs and steep inclines. If you have any trouble breathing, you should reconsider. If you can handle all that, go for it!
The Amalfi coast was truly fascinating!

I participated in a walking tour of Tuscany in May. Everything about the tour was special - from the incredibly funny guide to the magnificent scenery to the delicious food and cosy hotels. Gianni is a highly knowledgeable, empathetic host with a great sense of humour. The group size is just right - you can spend time with those you like, avoid those you don't and spend as much time on your own as you want. The pace of walking was quick but fairly easy, and you felt your earned your lunch each day! I came home fit, rested and relaxed. I will definitely be doing this again!

Walk About Amalfi, what a joyful week full of unexpected, delightful surprises. My husband and I joined a group of 16 other people to explore villages and hikes in Amalfi. Initially, we were concerned about being with so many people for a week. Within a day, those concerns were wiped out as we got to know and enjoy the diverse group of people we hiked and enjoyed fabulous meals with. Our guides, Erika and Mateo, were knowledgeable, funny, attentive, and kind. We would never have found or experienced the unique places we visited had we attempted to plan a trip such as this ourselves. Gianni joining us for the last three days of the trip was a fabulous bonus that put the cherry on top of a delightful trip.

This was my second tour with Gianni and both rank as my best vacations ever. Walkabout Italy is a boutique agency, with the owner - Gianni - personally guiding most of the tours accompanied by specialist guides according the location visited. The essence of Gianni's tours is experience vs. tourism: your don't go to just 'see' things (to tick them off a list), but to experience the moment. So, the itineraries mostly avoid the crowded tourist areas (except for must-see spots like Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii). You won't get to take your photograph holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but your group will be the only guests at a family farm where you will be served their own produce and unlimited carafes of wine, and you will enjoy discreet local attractions .
