This was my second tour with Gianni and both rank as my best vacations ever. Walkabout Italy is a boutique agency, with the owner - Gianni - personally guiding most of the tours accompanied by specialist guides according the location visited. The essence of Gianni's tours is experience vs. tourism: your don't go to just 'see' things (to tick them off a list), but to experience the moment. So, the itineraries mostly avoid the crowded tourist areas (except for must-see spots like Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii). You won't get to take your photograph holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but your group will be the only guests at a family farm where you will be served their own produce and unlimited carafes of wine, and you will enjoy discreet local attractions .

This was my second trip with Gianni in Italy and was once again thoroughly enjoyable. The hikes always held some new joy… a great view, surprise snack, good food, wonderful local guides and yes the hills. Gianni is always making sure all aspects of your comfort and safety are well in hand. I can safely give his tours a high recommendation. Thanks again Gianni. 🥰

This was my first trip with Walk About Italy and I will definitely go on another. The entire experience from beginning to end was fun, educational and full of adventure. The walks/hikes were through beautiful countryside, the food was a gustatory treat and the information was educational. Gianni along with some of the local guides made this trip pleasurable and interesting.

Gianni from Walk about Italy is fantastic. This is my second tour with him and it was amazing. We were originally doing the Sicily tour but just before the trip we switched to Umbria as covid in Sicily was still bad. Walks were great, food was great and the local guides he uses are all amazing! We are just going to have to go back and do the Sicily trip with Walk about Italy.

Dear Liz, I owe you so much. During the pandemic you have been so close to us, feeling for us for travel business and our financial situation. I must say that it is due to people like you and many others that stayed close to us during the pandemic that we look ahead to next season with optimism. Now that we have finished the Umbria & Le Marche tour I look back to those days and I think of the trip with such a good feeling, and believing that we can do always better. I am so happy that you loved the tour and I really look forward to your next trip with us. A big hug from Italy!

I loved this tour that combined the beautiful towns of Trevi, Orvieto and Bevagna in Umbria and villages and stately Urbino in Le Marche. The hikes through these two regions were through a variety of scenery from the olive groves of Trevi to the orchards in the hills of Le Marche and a coastal walk along the Adriatic. The food was wonderful whether in a restaurant in town in Orvieto (my favorite Carbonara!) or a barbecue at a farm in the Umbrian countryside or the rural stay in Ca Virginia in Umbria. I found new places to love in Italy on this trip! This is my second outing with Walk About Italy and am already planning my third for next year. Well organized trips, fun and informed professional local guides, off the beaten path places. Thanks to Gianni for another great experience in Italy!

Dear Lynda, it was a pleasure to host you again. I must say that some of these places, after this long stop due to covid, were a surprise also for me, the organizer of the trip! The off-the-beaten-path places that we have chosen went over my expectations. I found very easy to work in this area because people are kind and professional. When guests have such a respect and passion for Italy like you it all seems so easy. Looking forward to seeing you in Sicily next year. Ciao!
