My name is Gianni. I am a PhD geologist, certified nature guide and tour operator. Let me show you around the undiscovered Tuscany and set up your trip. I organize active tours. You will be able to enjoy beautiful walks in the countryside and through small villages, interact with the locals and sample great food and wines in Tuscany and Italy. I am a 46 year old resident, so passionate about my country. Only private tours or small group joinable tours. No bus crazy crowds! We really enjoyed our cooking class with Luca and Carmela. The shopping was educational and the food was delicious. Highly recommend!

My wife and I recently completed our third Walk About Italy and we loved it. Gianni organizes walks that are off the beaten path and uses fantastic local guides so we feel like we really experience Italy instead of just seeing heavily touristed areas. All of the food is plentiful and delicious! On this trip we visited a farm for lunch that was truly farm to table - fresh and amazing. A big bonus of these walks is the people we meet and share such wonderful experiences with. Thank you to our fellow walkers and our guides Erica, Gianni, and Matteo for providing more great memories of Italy.

I participated in a walking tour of Tuscany in May. Everything about the tour was special - from the incredibly funny guide to the magnificent scenery to the delicious food and cosy hotels. Gianni is a highly knowledgeable, empathetic host with a great sense of humour. The group size is just right - you can spend time with those you like, avoid those you don't and spend as much time on your own as you want. The pace of walking was quick but fairly easy, and you felt your earned your lunch each day! I came home fit, rested and relaxed. I will definitely be doing this again!

This was hands down one of the best things I have ever done in my life. I feel like a review won't even do it justice. Basically, if you're here reading about it, BOOK IT NOW! You won't regret it. The value for money is unreal. The guides are just wonderful. The entire experience is one I will cherish forever.

our tour has been great with our guides Marco and Chiara... young and funny lots of information given, a whole day of pleasure and discover the 5 beautiful villages.
Guides very helpful all the time, on time, nobody was left behind.
it has been a hectic day because all the visits... a bit too many people of course, in the trains and in some villages. I would have liked to spend more time in some villages sometimes... Thank you so much Chiara and Marco, for your really good information about history and so on... We even had time for wine tasting and food tasting.. We hope next time a bit more sun...

We booked a Walks tour to Tuscany. It was supposed to be a 12-hour day in an 18 passenger bus. It ended up being only the two of us signing up, so we were put in an SUV with a driver and guide! How lucky was that? We drove north from Rome to Pienza, did cheese tasting, visited a fort, had lunch at a farm and did a wine tasting tour. It was wonderful and on our schedule. Our guide Francisco was great and our driver zipped us around faster than a bus tour would have been, cutting a couple hours of the tour. Really enjoyed this tour!

My wife and I just completed back-to-back tours of Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast, and our expectations were far exceeded. Italy is a treasure chest of history and amazing experiences, and the beauty of Walk About Italy's tours is that you have a local expert with the knowledge, perception and skill to select the most beautiful towns to visit as well as unique local activities. We could not have come close to replicating this had we tried. Gianni is like a curator who selects the finest jewels on offer to create an unforgettable experience. The tour guides were knowledgeable, friendly and fun. We cannot recommend Walk About Italy more strongly. M. Jensen and D. Bloomer

Wonderful tour guide. The bus was clean. So much information to take in. Take 2 -3 days to tour Siena, Tuscany and Pisa. So worth it!

Sicily is a must see with Gianni and Ermes, this was our third tour with Walk about Italy - from the food to Gianni's solo flute performance on Salina Island in a church, the remote locations of lunches and not forgetting the perfect hotels and transport provided.

Sicily walking tour was perfect way to see much of the east coast and gorgeous Aolian islands (Lipari and Salina). The walking is always pleasant and not arduous. Each dinner, walk, hotel or experience is carefully chosen by Gianni and his guides. Many just wouldn’t be possible to organise without local expertise. On Lipari we had such a special dinner in a farmhouse overlooking the sea at sunset prepared by a local young chef…..highly recommended small group tour! Almost all of our group had done other walks with Walk About italy…obviously a very good sign!

The price per person for sharing room is 2350. Returning customers get 100 euro discount.

Hi Gianni, Please could you give me a guideline as to the duration and costs for a walking tour in Tuscany for 6 ladies ranging from 68 years to 80. We are all fit! From 1 to 14 May, 2020. We would also like to include the Cinque Terra. Two ladies will fly from Cape Town and 4 from London.

Hi Phyl, we have a Tuscany walking tour ready for you! It's from the 3rd of May to 10th of May. It's all land service included, except for two dinners.
INCLUSIONS:
7 night stay at small hotels (3 and 4 stars). En-suite bathroom. All the hotels are conveniently located in the town historical centers or in the country. Book early and we will try to accommodate you in a room with a view. Non-smoking rooms. Wifi.
All breakfasts - 6 lunches - 5 dinners!!

1 local fully licensed guide for groups smaller than 10. Groups larger than 10 people will be guided by 2 local guides
Entrance tickets for all the special events

Olive oil press visit and tasting of extra virgin oil with Ilaria, the owner.

After this 8 day trip in Tuscany you can add 2-3 days in Cinque Terre. A professional guide will be with you. We have contacts with a beautiful hotel in Monterosso and the guide as well. I will help you with the bookings. You will pay the guide per day, your meals and the hotel on your own. I do not need a commission for this part of the trip.

next group tour is in 2017. in Rand now is around 33.000 per person. Places available.
If you want to travel in 2016 instead you need a private trip that I am happy to set up and guide for you. I need to quote that.
International airport of Rome (FCO). There is a train that connects Rome to Siena where the tour starts.
