La Buca di Montauto is a shop, where you can buy local food and wines, located in the old town of San Gimignano, a wonderful medieval town in Tuscany Region, in the center of Italy. The shop is charming, with a wild boar outside. Here you can buy local wine (especially Vernaccia di San Gimignano grapes) and local food like cheeses, cured sausages, products with truffle and obviously products from wild boar. Also, it is possible to taste some of these local products, if you enter at the end of the shop: top for gourmets or gastrolovers. Very recommendable! (See also Historic Centre of San Gimignano)…

A pleasure to speak to the family behind this wonderful business, who farm their own boar, olives and vineyards - and of course - produce incredible wine, boar prosciutto, grappa and wonderful cheeses. We could have stayed for hours - and happily bought everything in the store. Loved seeing three generations of the family there too. If you can, Buy your wine here and box it up instead of in the bigger cities. You’ll find some gems.…

We found a few places but this one had a sign outside saying they not only serve but also produce all their own products. We trusted this and went inside where the owners sat us at the table. At that moment the owners son was having his dinner and they asked if little Lorenzo would disturb us. We of course said it was okay and ordered some wine and tagliere of salami for two and some cheeses for me. The food was wonderful and went down well with the red wine. The owners were very friendly and we enjoyed interesting conversations with them about wine and food and all things good. We passed a lovely hour or so in this place and would recommend it! If we return to San Gimignano we will definitely pass by again!…
