Great views, very curious private tower
Aug 2019 • Solo
Torre Salvucci Maggiore is one of the some towers located in the old town of San Gimignano, a fantastic medieval town in Tuscany Region, in the center of Italy. It is a private building, but nowadays it is possible to enter and go up to see the wonderful views of the town. Also, from the top you can see the brother towers only few meters far. Great views! I think that it is possible to rent this tower to stay diring some days, so the inner part is decorated as a hotel and each little floor you can different decoration: very curious, very interesting.

Climbing the tower
Mar 2019 • Family
We missed the Torre grosse enterance time and then we saw it is possible to climb this tower. It is cheaper than grosse. Amazing view at the top. Be careful with young children. The stairs are steep.

Hello, Thank you very much for your review. We are not always open to visits, generally the tower is open March-October when no rented as a holiday home. If you are planning to visit it, the best way to know if it is open to public is to contact us a week prior to your visit in San Gimignano. Thank you Best Regards

Worth the stair climb
Oct 2018 • Friends
The view from the top is worth the stair climb up. The views around the city are spectacular. Even the climb up you pass through various rooms furnished as bedrooms, kitchens, sitting rooms, etc. The lower floors are actual apartments. We asked if any apartments were available as an air BNB. They said yes.

Hello! Thank you for your review. We confirm that it is possible to rent the tower house on airbnb! We also rent anothet flat in the nearby palace (same entrance from the door facing the square). Then the tower house can be visited when free from rentals, during the tourist season March-Oct. Best Regards

San Gimignano's Twin Towers
Dec 2017 • Friends
Although the World Trade Center's twin towers in NYC no longer exist, these towere in San Gimignano have withstood the test of time. They provide us an example of "permanence" and allow us to think quietly about a different age. Absolutely wonderful old city; do not miss it while in Tuscany.

It was really interesting as we climbed the tower to see how each level had been converted into room; living area, kitchen, bedroom etc, it would be fun to stay here and you would be able to burn off lots of calories from all the wonderful gelato..The views from the top are worth the climb

Great views, interesting climb up
Apr 2018 • Couples
Well worth the entrance fee, we enjoyed climbing this tower and seeing the interesting rental opportunity inside - maybe when my kids were younger! The views at the top are really nice - both the city and the countryside.
We were only in town for an hour - maybe next time we'll stay longer and climb the highest tower!

One of several towers, worth the view from the top!
Aug 2017 • Friends
It's nearly 150 steps up from the plaza to the top but once you make it there the view is stunning and your eyes are rewarded! Bonus! Want to stay in a "tower", it's also a holiday rental!

Dear Ms, thank you for your review. The tower house is available both for a holiday stay, on request, or a visit to the tower if free from rentals. It is surely a different kind of experience in terms of stay. We usually have guests passionate about history, art, medieval times :) Thank you again and greetings from San Gimignano!

The Eye Catchers
Sep 2017 • Couples
As you come up on San Gimignano from the distance the towers are the first and most obvious attribute if the skyline (can you call it that??). While the towers draw you in, it's the strength and majestic feel that take over as you think of the effort it took to create something that has lasted over 700 years. I cannot stress that climbing these towers should not be your goal, save your energy in exploring this wonderful place where time has stood still.

Hi :) You just explained what the visitor can see here in the Torre Salvucci Maggiore. The tower has been completely restored and nowadays is an historic house open to the public both for visits or holiday stays. If the tower house is rented, then it is not possible to climp up to see the interiors. We appreciate that you enjoy your experience! All the best
