Nice little shop, tucked away in a square behind the Duomo. They sell the good stuff at fair price. Much better than the over priced phoney pottery that is offered on the high street into the city.

As you walk up the main street of San Gimignano there are many lovely shops selling hand painted pottery. We stopped at one with thousands of items, and though overwhelmed, priced out some pieces. We didn't love these enough to buy, and fortunately found our way to Beconcini at the top of the hill, in the quiet of a small courtyard. This tiny shop was filled with a beautiful selection, and the owners quietly helped us create a set, at lower prices and with much lower shipping costs than the other shop. Their website, I noticed, has the same prices we paid. The owners were very warm and friendly, and now that we are home, we are so happy with our choices. Thank you Fabio!

San Gimignano Shopping Attractions - Beconcini Tuscan Handmade Ceramics (Ceramica)
This is a wonderful little shop located in the small and charming Square called Piazza Pecori near the Basilica in San Gimignano. Fabio is the very warm and welcoming owner of the shop and is very helpful. This shop is full beautiful treasures. My husband and I discovered Beconcini Tuscan Handmade Ceramics many years ago and ALWAYS make a point of returning there when we visit San Gimignano. With over 40 years experience in hand made Tuscan ceramics which are entirely hand painted by local artists there are many temptations to be found there. We also bought beautiful hand painted ceramic street numbers for our house in Australia. While you are there also check out the wonderful Tuscan hand painted (very light to carry home) wooden crosses in many different sizes. I bought several of these, they are not expensive and all my family have one or more which I had blessed while we were in Italy. They are so beautiful and I have bought them in many sizes. There is a wonderful Italian harp player called Andrea Piazza who, if you are lucky enough to hear, often plays his harp in the square in the summer months. This is heaven on earth. So beautiful. So relax in the Tuscan sun with beautiful ceramics and listen to Andrea if he is playing and enjoy these memories that you take home for many years to come.

Visited San Gimignano Italy and purchased a handmade tray at Beconcini Tuscan Handmade Store. After we returned home, we purchased an additional 4 trays from them on their internet site. Very good to do business with, friendly, and good comminication via e-mail. Excellent job of shipping our items to insure that there was no breakage of any items.

Dear customer,
the most important review for us is that you came back to our shop and in fact, you did it.
Beconcini is one of the first in San Gimignano selling tuscan ceramics.
Our activity exists already since 1965 and I'm the third generation who runs the shop.
For us the most important thing is that our customers are satisfied.
I'm very content and hope to meet you again.
With kind regards.
Fabio

We read about this shop on Trip Advisor and decided to visit. We bought a platter and ordered 10 plates. The sample plate was sent to the artisan who then made our plates. The plates were then shipped from Italy to Cincinnati, Ohio. They came out perfect. They look beautiful. The products in this store are all beautiful and one of a kind. Fabio was outstanding to work with. He kept us informed via email of the status of our order and let us know when it shipped and about how long before we received it. It was a great experience. We are planning another trip next spring and stopping by Beconcini Tuscan Handmade is a must. Thanks Fabio!!!

This shop is wonderful! I visited a couple of years ago and I purchased some bowls and plates and I have enjoyed them so much, I wish I had bought more! Not only are they attractive as decorative collectibles, they are high quality pieces that are extremely durable and I use them every day! True treasures! The shop is stocked with many varieties of styles typical to this area. If you are interested in ceramics and the history of Tuscany in general, this shop is a 'must see'! The owner is very good at communicating if you want something shipped and he has some really nice large pieces that are gorgeous! An extra bonus is, if you REALLY want to learn the history of this magical city, the owner is very personable and will impress you with his knowledge and love for the history of San Gimignano and his enthusiasm is infectious! You will learn more from him about the fantastic city than from any guidebook! Must visit this shop!!!

San Gimignano is one of the most beautiful hill top towns in Tuscany. Thousands of tourists visit this rather small town, and they allow only a couple of hours to visit it and think they have seen it all. It's true that the main attractions are situated on a couple of streets and piazza's, but if you're looking for beautiful ceramics typical of the town, don't miss to move a little away from the main street and behind the Collegiata Church on the most beautiful little piazza, you'll find Fabio Beconcini's ceramic store. It's less expensive as most others and the best quality, both of the ceramics and the painting. I bought a big plate with one the town's saints San Gimignano. I first saw this beautiful plate in the town's tourist office and asked them where I could find this? That was how I found Fabio and ever since I've bought also cups and many other items. Fabio is very helpful and you can also ask for special ceramics according to your need and wish. Fabio takes care of the shipping and his service is excellente.

The owner is reputable, friendly and stocks his shop well. We have shipped various valuable items from his fine shop to Pennsylvania with absolutely no problem. We look forward to seeing him when we return and what wonderful objects he has for sale. His products are an everlasting reminder of the beautiful craftsmanship we treasure for the rest of our lives.
San Gimignano is a wonderful town to stay in for two nights. Greatest craftsmanship in all of Italy for sale, wonderful restaurants and the Leon Bianco is the place to stay year after year.
We have been visiting Italy and San Gimignano annually since 2000.

Beconcini is fabulous and definitely worth a visit! The studio is full of authentic, hand-painted ceramics - definitely not the same "generic" pieces you will find in many other shops in San Gimignano. Fabio was incredibly helpful, and the plates we ordered arrived safely at our doorstep a few weeks later. Love this shop!!! Grazie mille, Fabio!

Thank you Margaret. All your things was not available in the shop the day of your visit but when you ordered the pattern you like we immediately ask the artesan for paint them.
We can't store a set of all, due to the limited space but we manage and in one month customers could have the pieces desired. Just the time to complete the holidays and come back home!
