Interesting museum with liturgical objects
Aug 2019 • Family
Museo d'Arte Sacro is a little museum located in a Collegiata close to Duomo (Cathedral) in Piazza del Duomo, the main square of old town of San Gimignano, a fantastic medieval town in Tuscany Region. Here you can see some liturgical objects, paintings,.. some of them from the Cathedral of the town and surroundings. It is interesting, not more.

Lovely building with a beautiful courtyard and stairs. Yes it is not big but since it is included in the pass it is definitely worth a visit.

Small and quick to visit
Jul 2019 • Friends
Nothing *wow* to see. Bit like the old junk from a church that’s not on show any more. there are a couple of lovely items but no more than that. Still it’s worth a quick look if you have a combination ticket. And it’s relatively cool in temperature

Good Place to Start with San Gimignano Pass
Jun 2019 • Family
A San Gimignano Pass costs Euro 13. Good value, as it gets one into the Museo Arte Sacra, Duomo, Torre Grande and Archeological Museum. The Museo d’Arte Sacra is right next door to the ticket office. I can’t get too excited by religious art - just variations on the theme. But this is a nice cool museum, with well displayed items.

Fairly small limited museum

This was part of the combination ticket we bought to see the church. It is accessed from inside the bookshop. There is kind of a mishmash of things from several centuries. the best piece is an old polychrome wooden crucifix from the beginning of the 13th century.

Sacred art museum next to the duomo is best appreciated by those with specific interest.

Sacred art museum next to the duomo is best appreciated by those with specific interest in religion, as not all of it is really old history. Usually part of your combination ticket, but skip it if you are short on time.

Tourists money beating.

We were in San Gimignano quite some years ago and wanted to visit the cathedral again.
However, we were surprised to find out that tourists have to pay an entrance fee nowadays.
Like all San Gimignano, also this attraction has become a tourist trap.
One advise for all readers: There are dozens and dozens more beautiful cathedrals in Tuscany and Umbria, so skip this one.

Interesting but a little disappointing

If there had been a better conection with the marvelous Cathedral Building next door, this would have been a better museum, as it was it wwas largely a collection of old peieces that are of interest only to the expert.

Not Much to See

This is a very small museum with the emphasis on ecclesiastical art. The entry was included in a multiple ticket purchase, hence the visit.

Visited with my family this museum - nothing memorable ... just the expensive entry fee. You really must be interested in sacral art in order to enjoy it.
