This was by far the most impressive cathedral we went to on our Tuscany trip (much more impressive even than Pisa). The frescos and art work are generally in great condition and the whole cathedral is a riot of colour. Get a combined ticket with the Grosso Tower and check it out!

Impressive cathedral with spectacularly restored frescoes. Should be a must visit when you are in San Gimignano. Remember that this is a church: there is a dress code and silence is expected. A fresco series of the Old Testament is accompanied by a second series of the New Testament on the opposite side of the church. The frescoes of the Last Judgment are remarkable.

Beautiful Duomo located next to the Bell Towers. Wonderful painted ceilings and walls. Need a little bit of time to appreciate.

Beautiful church in the historic center. It is a must see while walking San Gimignano. Make sure to go inside as well.

Definitely one of the highlights of San Gimignano.
Painted walls are just extraordinary and you can spend quite a while paying attention to all the details - special mention for the Hell one...

Strange how this has turned into an artistic site to be visited by strangers and unbelievers yet a profoundly holy place
The highlight of my Tuscan visit and perhaps of my various visits to Italy ,easy to see how Zefirelli and others chose it as site for filming. An amazing place.
Clearly the town centre has been turned into a tourist ghetto even I& there is a high standard to the goods freed in many of the shops
The audio guide perhaps gets in the way of the magic and also ,myself included ,the photographers — should be kept sacred

On our first day of a vacation in Tuscany we stopped in for a wine tour in San Gimignano and then walked through the city afterwards. The Duomo was an absolute highlight. TWO walls of 14th century frescoes is about as good as it gets for lovers of early Italian Renaissance art. There were many other frescoes and sculptures including works by Gozzoli and a stunning chapel by Giuliano da Maiano. I was left breathless and the Romanesque exterior is fabulous too.

A visit to the Collegiata is well worth the visit to touristy but beautiful San Gimignano. Make sure you purchase a ticket and visit both the Duomo and the Museum. An excellent commentary and unbelievable frescoes. A real must visit when in Tuscany. And most of the tourists don’t bother as they are too busy at the souvenir shops and taking selfies with the unbelievable townscape.

Really interesting church, has large paintings on the wall of old and new testament stories, had a great time testing my bible knowledge figuring out the depictions. Definitely worth the ticket price!
