Nice statue
Aug 2020
Nice statue of Romulus / Remus next to the leaning tower. Worth a look as tourists will be undoubtedly here anyway and so spare a few minutes to have a look.

Great statue full of history...
The colors of the place are marvellous, and the gardens majestic, so relaxing to be there.

Another great part of this area that seems to be missed my many. Interesting building. Some meeting rooms here that go back in the years!

This was a lovely structure in the square of miracles. It was very busy when we visited. So be patient.

A bit unexpected
Jun 2019
We also visited Sienna where this statue would seem at home (actually there is a similar statue since Senius the son of Remus who together with his brother Romulus were supposedly suckled by this wolf before founding Rome). What this is doing in the most important square in Pisa is anybody's guess but maybe the Romans forced this upon Pisa. The Piazza dei Miracoli is so imposing maybe the Roman wanted to remind these people who was the real boss.

Why?
Jun 2019 • Couples
Yes, it is Italy, and yes, the famous Romulus and Remus founded the capital of Italy, and yes, when they escaped from Rome went to the place of Siena where this town was established by Senius, son of Remus, so she wolf with Romulus and Remus became the symbol of Siena. Till that it is O.K., but what the hell are they doing in Pisa?

CAPITOLINE WOLF
Apr 2019 • Couples
This statue of the she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus, the legend of the founding of Rome, sits atop a stone column in Piazza dei Miracoli. The base looks to be made of stone with 3 steps supporting a large square plinth. There are engravings on 3 sides of the plinth. This copy is from 1936, this is but one of several memorials across Italy.

Out of place
Sep 2018 • Couples
The copy of the statue of the mythical she-wolf which nourished the twin brothers Romulus and Remus who became the founders of Rome. The original can be seen in the Musei Capitolini in Rome, and this copy is a bit out of place at this square.
