Front of church, particularly the higher up portions are very impressive. Inside of church is less so, but church is on a busy shopping, tourist street and so not too much bother to spend 5 minutes to have a quick look.

This impressive marble church stands in the heart of Via Borgo, one of Pisa’s main shopping streets. It’s grand facade contains heavily stylized carved stonework. The interior is rather modest with the altar flanked by numerous organ pipes. The wooden ceiling brings ‘warmth’ to the stone church interior.…

neat little church worth a visit. the mural paintings are absolutely fabulous! the mummy of san michele can be seen close up (glass coffin), for people who like that stuff

This part of Pisa was inhabited since the Etruscan times and the church was first mention in the 11th century, but over the centuries it was transformed and altered numerous times. The marble facade dates from the 14th century and is notable for its three portals in the lower part and three orders of loggias in the upper part. We could not see the inside of this church, which appears to only be open for services (as I found most of the churches in Pisa to be). I was there at the time of a service, with the idea that I could go in after but they closed the church immediately after the service.
