The Tower of Pisa (180 feet in height) was begun in 1173 and, due to its faulty foundation on unstable soil, leans precariously more than 14 feet out of line, preventing visitors from climbing its 300-plus steps to the top.

Me and my husband were on a Thompson cruise for our 25th wedding anniversary and we went. On the easy Pisa excursion it was lovely we were all on the bus ready to go 15 mins early so the coach driver took us on a alternative route to see a very old listed church the guide on the bus was... More

I guess climbing is a must if you visit the tower. But you must be over 8yr And are only aloud To take cameras and water up, no bags. I claimed yrs ago as a kid, it was much less regimented And there was not any fencing around some levels!! Now you Can only enter the top 2.

It's not just the tower, it's the whole setting with the other buildings around it. If you are really lucky there will be singing coming out of the Oratory building then the whole place comes alive. Just a shame there are so many other people there at the same time but that's the nature of tourism in a famous setting... More

The experience of going up the tower is unique. The views on the way up and from the top are brilliant. It is well organised. Tickets are timed for every half hour from 8am to 7.30 pm. You are only allowed to take a camera with you, for very good reasons. Your other bags are locked safely when you show... More

We visited in July 2014 as an afternoon excursion from Livorno port where our cruise ship had docked for the day. We took a boat up the river into Pisa and so had a great introduction to the various old buildings of Pisa. We disembarked and joined the 'Choo-Choo' road train which gave us a further tour of Pisa's narrow... More

I made my visit early Saturday morning to view this gem . I didn't expect the Sears Tower knowing it's only 185 ft to the top . Yes there were people everywhere trying to hold it up or push it over . It is what you do when you take a photo . I probably spent a total of 20... More

You will be amazed at the angle of the tower in person. Also a must do is get tickets to climb to the top for a view of pisa. Not many people know that they let visitors up to the top in groups. Also the big bell at top rings every so often so its a spectacle if it happens... More

I didn't go up but it's cheap although there can be a significant wait (reason why I didn't go up), it's nice to hey the touristy photo and the history of interesting ( in English too). Free Wi-Fi in the address is not Wi-Fi, FYI.
