The Tower of Pisa (180 feet in height) was begun in 1173 and, due to its faulty foundation on unstable soil, leans precariously more than 14 feet out of line, preventing visitors from climbing its 300-plus steps to the top.

This was the first half of our tour. Upon entering the square, you go wow. You have this big open square with shops and street vendors. You walk up a bit and voila there it stands the Leaning tower of Pisa, Duomo and the Baptistry. You are in awe as you look up at the Leaning tower. You may even... More

A must-see, but don't forget to drop your bag off at the ticket office first before joining the queue for the tower!

I visited here years ago when it was grubby and had scaffolding round it so wasn't expecting much. My husband dragged me along as he hadn't seen it - what a lovely surprise. The tower is stunning, setting is beautiful and a real treat. No scaffolding so we climber the tower which is bizarre but a must do. A real... More

The structure looks so beautiful. We took lots of photographs with it. Spent lot of time admiring the architecture. You can climb the tower by paying some 18 euro. There you will find lots of souvenir shops where you can get the model of it in varying sizes. Definitely take one with you.

The leaning tower is definitely a must see as well as the cathedral and baptistery. The visit itself can take as long as you want and there are a couple of cafés where you can have a coffee and just enjoy the spectacular view and of course people watching.

What can one say about the Torre Pendente thas has not been said before: it is so beautiful, so unique and so photogenic (from all angles). Fortunately it was not so crowded, so that we could see and enjoy Piazza del Duomo from above.

Didn't go in the Tower. Very busy with queues from very early in the morning. Attractive, well-kept grounds.

This is an amazing building to see, situated in Pisa's Cathedral Square directly behind the Cathedral, we didn't climb the 296 or 294 steps as we were on a time scale. This is truly one of the worlds famous structures.

Its the second time I have visited the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and I think I enjoyed it more this time. The have done some renovations to the tower as it was starting to lean too far and its quite incredible what they have done to it. When I first visited then were no rails on the windows as you... We went to Pisa on the way to Piedmont from Tuscany as an impromptu stop along the way. I remember being in so many restaurants as a kid with the Tower on the menu or placemat. The stop was a highlight and so worth the trouble. So cool!
