The Tower of Pisa (180 feet in height) was begun in 1173 and, due to its faulty foundation on unstable soil, leans precariously more than 14 feet out of line, preventing visitors from climbing its 300-plus steps to the top.

As the title says - of course it is a spectacular building, but in my opinion it is quite overrated and I would not recommend to book a trip to Pisa just to see the tower.. if you are travelling Italy and are close to Pisa it is worth a visit, but there a definitely many more beautiful cities in... To be honest, I wasn't that excited about visiting the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We were staying in Florence and decided to take a day tour via train to Pisa and see the tower. The little town of Pisa impressed me (of what I saw). I liked how it was laid out so nicely - after being in Florence where... More

I was so shocked by how new it looked. And it's lean is more/less pronounced depending where you look at it from.

A great attraction and a great day out and well worth a visit. There was a lot of building work to the Museum but it didn't spoil the experiance.

Everything you expect. A beautiful view from the top. A good talk before hand about the tower and the history. Wear sensible shoes. I had slip on flat shoes and these were not a good idea when coming back down. The stairs are tiny and very slippy due to the weather, and no handrail - also the walls have no... More

If your in Pisa you have to go see the leaning tower, we went in the day and popped back later on in the evening to see it when its lit up. Pisa is only small and there is not much else to do but visit the tower.

Now we have seen it, the tower was leading. Great place to visit, alot to see within a short walking distance. Not growded before 10 am and after 7 pm. Buy the tickets for the tower tour a day before the visit (the ticket office has long ques from 10 am to 6 pm). You can choose the tour time... More

This is a must see if you are in the area of Tuscany, but it is a tourist trap and has no other real charm. There are many cheap trinkets for sale and bus loads of tourists. On the other hand, the architecture and the shear beauty of the tower and it's restored marble are worth a brief visit.

Shouldn't need to say much - iconic site and a privilege to visit. Make sure you use the official website to book your tickets, and be ready for a climb!

The Torre (Tower) is iconic and just about anyone can name it from a picture. But when you see it in person it is truly amazing. To us, climbing the tower was the true experience. Leaning one way then the next as you clime to the top. Amazing!
