Great bikes, great place

Great bike rental, with bikes in excellent condition. We rented the touring bikes without a guide or group and just set off on one of the proposed routes (Pisa to Lucca and back).
The route was 100% correct and easy to follow and provided some beautiful sights, all roads were proper roads (although part is “off-road”, for which the touring bikes are well equipped).

The people at the bike rental were super friendly and enthusiastic. They provided all the right information and offer a lot of help if needed.

Bike hire in pisa

We hired some bikes through this company for our cycle tour around tuscany. We emailed elena several times before our trip and communications were excellent. The bikes were set up when we arrived and were high spec carbon road bikes. We also were able to leave some bags at the shop for a few euros a day. The cycling was fabulous. We did 150 miles over 4 days to Pistoia and San Gimignano. We had no technical problems and the bikes were very comfortable. Smile & ride also have an app so you can look at local routes. Very nice company to do business with. Thank you Elena!

You will have a fabulous holiday with Smile and Ride. It may be a bit pricier than using routes online and renting cheap bikes but going with Smile and Ride is worth every penny. There are a range of bikes of great quality, Mario and Elena obviously take care and pride in their maintenance and in making sure that every customer gets a bike which suits them. I had such a good experience that I returned for 3 days of cycling! The only times I wasn't having a fabulous time was when I went off piste from Smile & Ride’s recommendations! The guidance that comes from people who are local, knowledgeable and enthusiastic ensures that you find routes which are beautiful, safe and - if you like - challenging! I previously read a criticism about water/food stops along routes and I must say I didnt find any trouble with this at all - I always carry lots of water, was able to top up as I went, and spotted many trattoria and panificio wherever I went (though I fell in love with a sandwich shop in Pisa and so always left prepared!) Cycling to the sea is an easy, flat cyclepath that I imagine would suit families but there are many more interesting directions for the keen cyclist to go! You can be equipped with locks, puncture kits, helmets, phone holders,... Just bring a battery pack to keep your phone alive and prepare for a wonderful day exploring. I'm already dreaming of a bikepacking trip in Tuscany and, when I do, I'll be giving Elena a shout!

Great service and bikes

We hired two road bikes in April 2022 for five days. Very friendly and professional service. Great communication prior to our trip via email from Elena to make sure we had the exact bikes to meet our requirements. We did 5 days of riding, some using the trains to get to our starting points, so opted for flat pedals which were fine. The area is so beautiful and easy to explore by bike with apps like Komoot. We are planning a return trip and will use the same bikes from Elana but will probably bring our own saddles for extra comfort. I would highly recommend Smile and Ride. Thanks for a great experience.

From Pisa to Lucca

This was quite the experience! First of all the owners are very nice and helpful! She really took the time to make sure we had the right bike and accessories for our trip. The tour itself was the really pretty and we spend all day enjoying the views! One tip perhaps, don’t forget to bring a power bank, because the app with the tour really uses a lot of battery. But if you’re still looking for something to do, the trip to Lucca was really amazing!

Great gravel bike for the Tuscany trail

I signed up for the Tuscany trail, a 500 km low profile organised gravel ride with this year about 5000 contestants. My own mountain bike got lost at the airport so I was looking for a rental bike. Smile and ride offered me a new gravel bike. The trail can be demanding and the bike was prepared perfectly for the bumpy gravel roads. The gravel bike that I rode was perfect for the trails and I really enjoyed the whole cycling experience.

Highly Professional Bike Rental and Superb service

We experienced the most incredible and professional service when using Smile and Ride in August 2021. We dealt with Elena, who was a pure joy. They really mean it when they say ‘Smile and Ride’, it seems this company works with joy in their hearts at every stage.
I was a very difficult and complicated customer with some strange and specific requests that I did not believe could be met, but they were met with 100% accuracy and Elena really bent over backwards for us in order to fulfill everything exactly as described plus more. They went above and beyond and made a million favours for us also.
I cannot say enough good things: very responsive, professional, friendly, extremely patient, flexible. This company truly puts the customer first and I would only use them again when renting bicycles in Italy. Thank you wholeheartedly to Elena and Smile & Ride.

Tuscany Bike Rental

We rented a house in Tuscany and contacted Smile and Ride for bike rental. Elena was wonderful through every step. She recommended the proper bikes for our area, delivered the bikes for a small fee, set us up with the proper helmets, locks and cell phone holders. Checked in to be sure everything was satisfactory the next day. We had so much fun with the bikes, even the kids had fun riding with the adults. Many thanks Smile and Ride, we loved it!

I hired a road bike from smile and ride for a bike trip and it was brilliant. They took time to get the fit right and the bike came with all the accessories that I needed and rode beautifully. I would highly recommend smile and ride.

Top experience. Professional and friendly.

Top experience. They had my gravel bike all prepared with short notice (I booked the evening before). Carbon frame, clean, very well tuned gears and brakes. Friendly staff which also showed interest in the route I had planned to do (to Lucca and back) with great suggested adaptations (to avoid a tunnel and to do an extra loop to see an amazing view over the lake on my way back to Pisa. Professional and friendly. Couldn’t ask for more.
