We had the great pleasure of taking a two winery tour with Carole the third week in April. She picked us up at our apartment in Lucca and drove us up into the beautiful countryside where we visited two lovely vineyards. We spent most of our time at the first vineyard, Bordocheo, where the three of us received a tour into the olive groves as well as viewing the grape-growing areas. Inside we had the undivided attention of our host, who answered all of our questions while providing us with an olive oil tasting and four different wines and delicious appetizers. We shipped olive oil and wine back to the United States for a very reasonable price. We were not hurried, and, by the time we were ready to move to Colleverde, we had missed our time and agreed to join a small group for our tour there. I’m glad we did, as it was fun to meet other people from Australia and Israel and taste and discuss the wines with them. All the while Carole was with us to translate when needed and be sure we were enjoying our tour. We enjoyed her company. Lucca is a wonderful town and a wine tour from there is a great use of your time. I highly recommend Lucca Wine Treasures.

I can not recommend this wine tour enough !
The host Carole is just fantastic. A well travelled lady who’s knowledge is extensive!
The booking experience was made easy and Carole is extremely trustworthy. She did exactly what she said she would.
Carole arranged to pick us up from the station and took us to two vineyards.
The first was a more modern experience ( although the vineyard had been in the family a long time ) . The host of this vineyard Barbara was fantastic and explained so much about the process of wine and olive making in great detail and served excellent variety of wine. We also had a home made lunch here which was delicious and complimented the wines very well. The wine is also very reasonably priced ! . The second vineyard was much older , and a favourite of Luciano Pavarotti! This was a very special place which was steeped in history ! The current owners , cousins, were brilliant ( and very generous with the tastings!) . Appetisers were again severed with the wine and the cousin that showed us around, Andreas, was also very knowledgeable! .
If you want a personal unique experience Carole will arrange it ! There really isn’t anything she can’t sort! . If there is something specific you want .. ask her I have no doubt she will sort it !
To be honest I wish we had booked her for our whole trip to Tuscany because she really was the best guide and fabulous company !
100% the BEST personal wine tour !

My husband and I went on this tour in September 2015. It was perfect! We went on a half day tour and visited 2 different wineries. Lars picked us up at the main gate to Lucca's wall. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and when we went to the two different wineries we felt like we were going to friends home because of the owners hospitality. The day concluded with lunch at Lars's restaurant back in Lucca. I highly recommend this trip. My husband and I are pretty picky and not always easy to please, so our recommendation means it must be good!

My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and a stop in Lucca was part of our trip. Luckily, we decided on this 'Tour of Tuscany" and met Lars. The day trip was well planned and beyond what we expected. He drove us to two of his favorite vineyards and we were welcomed by both owners. The tastings were beyond what we had experienced in the past, the tours were so interesting and fun. The day ended with a stop at his store, where we met his lovely wife and, yes, had more wine. Luckily we were walking back to our hotel! Don't miss this tour!!

My husband and I are experienced "wine tourers" (we especially love Sonoma). So I wanted to arrange a tour in Tuscany for my husband and the 3 couples we were travelling with (who are very experienced wine drinkers!). I decided on Lars and Lucca Wine Treasures based on the excellent reviews on tripadvisor. All I can say is that Lars exceeded all our expectations! It was certainly one of the highlights ot our trip! Everyone loved it!
Lars is extremely knowledgeable about the Tuscany wine region and he took us to 2 amazing wineries where we enjoyed some wonderful wine and delicious food to accompany it (you certainly won't need to make other lunch plans, and maybe dinner either!). We ended up back in Lars' wine bar where we had more wonderul food and wine and where he presented us each with a copy of his beautiful "Lucca Wine Treasures" book. It was my birthday and Lars also surprised me with a great bottle of rose champagne from one of the wineries we visited.
Thank you Lars for making our wine tour one of the highlights of our trip!! I will try to post a photo later.

This summer me and my girlfriend travelled around Italy. The main focus was food and wine, and we visited several wineyards both in Tuscany and in Piedmont.
We found Enoteca Calastos, Lars, winetasting just by "accident" when we did some research on winetasting in Lucca. What an "accident", as this turned out to be the best day in our four weeks trip around Italy. It is hard to explain this experience in few words, so in advance, sorry for the length (but it is worth the read!)
Lars, the owner of Enoteca Calasto picked us up and drove us around in the hills of Lucca. Lars is a truly amazing person, he knows everything about wine & food in Lucca and has published an award winning book on Lucca wines. His knowledge is one thing, but he is also an interesting and friendly man that you can talk to for hours & hours. Need less to say, you can not have a better person driving you around in Lucca and Montecarlo to taste wines.
We started of visiting Fattoria Di Fubbiano. First impression: Stunning view and beautiful buildings. The Fattoria di Fubbiano produces three red wines which belong to the D.O.C. (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) «Colline Lucchesi Rosso»; two white wines which belong to the D.O.C. «Colline Lucchesi Bianco»; a Supertuscan Red I.G.T.(Indicazione Geografica Tipica) Toscana , Aleatico IGT Costa Toscana, Vin Santo DOC Colline Lucchesi, grappa and vinegar.
A very plesant Lady took us around, in a group with some other visitors. She spoke great English, and described the production process in a great way. After the tour we tasted all the wines. All the wines were of great quality, but with a pretty large difference from the simpler to the more expensive wines. I Pampini was my favourite. I would also recommend the more tacky named "true love" - a great price/quality buy! The tasting also included a tasting of their olive oil - very spicy, but good.
After we had tasted the wines at Fattoria Di Fubbiano we drove with Lars to Fattoria Di Montechiari in the Monte Carlo district. WOW! This place can't be described by words. 360 degrees on the top of the hill is this wineyard / mansion. We had a personal guided tour by the owner, Moreno, himself, a proud and kind man who passionate told us about his paradise and organic/biodynamic production. The farm’s wine growing and biodynamic production is actually centered around French vines with grapes as Merlot, Cabernet and so on. When we had the tasting Morenos french wife served us some local small dishes, among this one of the best Pecorinos I have eaten and an extremly tasty parmesansuffle. So to the wines. These are high quality wines. Both the Merlot and Cabernet is probably among the best Tuscan wines I tasted on this vacation. To top it all off Moreno also produces a brut sparkling by méthode Champenoise, made on the Pinot Nero. A must taste, and perfect in the summer warmth. The atmosphere and experience at Fattoria Di Montechiari is so good that it can't be explained in words, you have to experience it.
After the last tasting we drove back to Enoteca Calasto, Lars own winebar. There we had a lunch and more wines (I have written an own review of this on Enoteca Calasto's tripadvisor page). Lars can also fix so that you can order all the wines you tasted either in the Enoteca or at his website www.enotecacalasto.com.
To sum it up. The experience Lars gives his visitors is unique. One thing is the handpicked wineyards, another thing is how Lars crafts the experience. Having an award winning wine book writer and storyteller as your private driver and guide for a day sounds like it is to good to be true. When you consider the price of 110 euros for all this you really think that this can't be possible. But I can tell you, this is one of the rare experiences that you will remember forever. This day gives you the great feeling you get when you experience something genuine and real. This is our best holiday memory, and experience from our four weeks travelling around Italy.
Thank you Lars for giving us this experience, we will be back (very soon...).

The reviews can not do this tour enough justice and my words cant either. We Met Carole as planned in the Center of Lucca at the Church and she took us on this most delightful tour we have ever been on!!! Carole was so personable, comforting, and knowledgeable of the region, area and wineries. From the moment we met her to the end of our tour we felt like we were her family and not clients. Our first stop was absolutely beautiful and breathtaking to see the wineries and gather the history of the vineyards grapes and Olives from our tour guide Antonella and we actually met the Owner Barbara who was such and amazing woman too. Antonella walked us around ant showed us the property the grapes the olives and pave us more knowledge then one can handle or to take in but when you thought about it you understood why. The wines there were SPECTACULAR
We then went onto an older winery using the old world ways and system of making wine (more reds) in the old barrels and storing them (my favorite part). Andrea was our host which he was very knowledgeable and friendly and hoping to carry on the tradition of his family when he takes over several years from now. The passion that they put into the tours is really seen when you talk and meet with them. Carole is just the icing on the cake of it all with her smile, charm and hospitality. If i could give this higher then 5 stars i would give as many as possible.

We have been out on wine tours with Lars from Lucca Wine Treasures 3 times - once last year and 2 times this year. The tours are just wonderful. The very detailed review by ( fiveeats Oslo, Norway ) is spot on. Lars is a great tour guide: knowledgeable, fun, professional, easy to talk too. The wines are fantastic. For the most part these are small to mid size wineries and many times the owner will be giving you the tour of the vineyard / cellar. The passion from these people is contagious and really contributes to having a great time on the tour. We have been on several wine tours to the more well known wine regions in Tuscany, but we had the best wines and interactions with the most passionate wine makers on tour with Lars in the hills of Lucca and Montecarlo.
