The main square of the city is also known as the Piazza Grande due to the vast space it occupies. Its main building is the “Palazzo Ducale” or “Palazzo Pubblico”, but the square is best known as the main venue of the Lucca Summer Festival...More
It is unbelievable how this small lovely square turns into centre of music and summer festival. Concerts here are unforgetable, thanks to the intimate atmosphere. You have a feeling of being reall close to the stage and musicians. This year's Lenny Kravitz concert was a...More

I always stayed in the middle of the town. Think to have seen taxi's around so I guess it won't be a problem. Enjoy your stay! Leave the piazza Napoleone in the south side (where traffic is allowed) and you will find a taxi.

Elton John concert seating (6 Replies)
Hi everyone, My boyfriend and I are planning to come to Lucca from July 13-15 and I would like to get us tickets to the Elton John concert on July 14. Is ticketone a good online site to buy tickets from? Also, I am confused about the seating. I thought I read on this site that all seating in Piazza Napoleone is unassigned/standing but on ticketone it offers 3 different options - Standing G/A Intero for 49€, Floor Reserved Seats for 115€ and Gold Box Platform Reserved Seats for 138€. I...More

Hi, Have used ticketone a few times for concerts in Lucca they are fine. I looked at the seating map and it looks like only the 115 euro tickets (seated) and the 49 euro standing only tickets are available. mesh

noise and travel (13 Replies)
Hello! I'm visiting Lucca next summer during the Lucca Summer Festival. I've found a couple of places to stay near Piazza Napoleone, which is appealing because it is close to the train station, and I plan on going on various day trips away from Lucca. However, I will be travelling with small children who go to bed around 20:30, and I'm concerned that the concert noise coming from the nearby Piazza Napoleone will keep them awake. Is this concern reasonable? If I'm 100 meters away, will the...More

Apart from the concert noise there may also be considerable noise from the concert-goers before and after the concerts and you may want to consider staying outside the walls and walking in and out of the city. The alternative is to stay at the other side of Lucca entirely but that means being further from the station.
Lucca Festival Parking - Sunday evening (5 Replies)
We are going to see a show in Lucca on Sunday the 24th of July. It will take place in the Piazza Napoleone at 21:30. We are arriving by car. What are the possibilities to park in the evening inside the walls close to via Citadela ( it shows that there are some parking slots there). If not where should we park and how long will we need to get to the show.

There are several parking lots on the outside of the walls. The largest and probably closest to the concert venue would be Carducci. I used Mazzini which is inside the walls but on the opposite side of town and would be a 20 minute walk (depending on your speed). As you approach Lucca, you will start to see Parking signs with free spaces available (libero) shown in lights. Allow 20 to 30 minutes from either of these lots and maybe a little more in case you have to park in the far corner. If...More
