My only comparison point is the course at IIC in Melbourne and I would have to say LIS was better. The school is housed in the first floor of a lovely palazzo near Porto S.Jacopo Gate so easy to get to from the wall. The classrooms are all modern with good light and nice and airy. All the staff are... More

After all the other glowing reviews, you're probably thinking, 'is this for real?' The short answer is, YES! LIS provides you with ample opportunity to enrich both your Italian speaking & listening skills, as well as gain a deeper and richer understanding of Italian history and culture. On the first day you arrive at LIS, you will be sorted into... More

This was my third time at Lucca Italian School...and it was once again outstanding. The teachers are excellent, so great that the time just flies. In addition to the morning class, I had five two-hour sessions of private lessons. I highly recommend these as you and the teacher can decide the focus of the class, working on your weaknesses. I turned up at the school without contacting them first and asked for 4 days of private lessons. They organised this immediately. Maria was a delightful and skilful teacher; I learned a lot and enjoyed it. The school building and grounds are very pleasant and well situated. I didn't take part in any of the activities offered, but they had... More

The school is great the teachers are great the home stay that they help to arrange is fantastic. They offer several after class outings for free plus trips to other towns by trains or cars. All of this optional allows you to experience and absorb more of the culture and local life of Lucca.

Lucca Italian School provides you with an excellent way to learn Italian by quickly immersing you into the Italian language. The method the staff uses to teach Italian might seem difficult but after a couple of days, your ear tunes into the pronunciation and words. Angelo set me up in a hospitable homestay in Lucca and I enjoyed my stay... More

I did the LIS one-week Speak and Cook Italian course in July 2015 and thought it was excellent. I was a total beginner in Italian, but I found the immersive class environment to be really effective, and by the end of the week I was able to carry on some very basic conversations (which I thought was pretty good for... Lucca Italian School was excellent. From the curriculum to the instructor to the excursions, everything was interesting, informative and fun! I really loved Lorenza, my instructor. As I was a beginner, she was so patient and supportive, easy to understand and friendly. Great attitude and kindness. The administrators and other instructors who I met and interacted with were also helpful... More

I went alone for my third trip to Italy, but first in studying the language over there. I was a bit nervous of course, but the everyone there was so friendly, and helpful, I felt at ease right away. Eva was an excellent teacher! I also took the cooking classes in the afternoons. What a feast! I was placed in... More

My wife and I studied for 4 weeks at Lucca Italian School (LIS) in October and November 2015. We were in different classes with different levels of instruction. We both loved our classes, our teachers, and our fellow students. The school is housed in a beautiful Liberty style villa with lovely ornament and spacious classrooms. The school far exceeded my...
