Fantastic performance by some extraordinarily talented artists. We arrived 15 mins early to the oratory, no line and plenty of seating. Date of concert December 23, 2021. Highly recommended.

Saw this - pre booked online - on a recent stay in Lucca. Lovely deconsecrated chapel next to the cathedral.
Two excellent performers who were accompanied by an equally excellent pianist.
Shame there weren't more people there to enjoy it on the night but this didn't detract from my enjoyment.
The performance lasted for an hour and included all the favourite arias.
I could've listened for another hour.
Well worth the money and I can highly recommend.

This concert was absolutely wonderful. What a fantastic opportunity to attend a Puccini performance in his hometown of beautiful Lucca. The ambiance in this gorgeous church is just fantastic and the performers just breathtaking. If you have time - go - you absolutely won’t regret it!

I've aways loved opera, but experiacing it in such an intimate setting was truly unique. It was so very moving it's hard to describe, it actually brought tears to my eyes in the best possible way. I can't recommend this strongly enough, if you can go, you must, I'm so grateful I was able to experience this.

The cathedral was stunning and the acoustics of the cathedral were truly amazing. Andrea the coordinator was very attentive and welcoming. The singers and piano being so close in such an intimate setting created a once in a lifetime experience. Though I wouldn’t call myself an opera fan, I was truly moved and may have shed a tear or two toward the end of the performance. It was the perfect pre-dinner activity, I highly recommend any who can, should attend the Puccini Experience.

Puccini e la sua Lucca is back! My first time back last night and as always the quality of the performance was outstanding- the audience leapt to their feet at the end.

Is there anything more civilised in the world than listening to an hour of opera in a beautiful mediaeval church before dinner?

Congratulations to Andrea and his team - you always manage to find these exceptional voices to sing for us and your resident pianist is just brilliant.

Lucca itself is one of the great treasures of Italy and surely Puccini e la sua Lucca its greatest event. Anyone visiting Lucca should put this at the top of their ‘must see’ list.

The nightly concerts "Puccini e la sua Lucca" start at 7:00pm in the church of San Giovanni. Each night there's a different program with a revolving cast of highly talented soloists performing the music of Puccini and his fellow composers. It was very simple: a concert pianist, a soprano, and a tenor performing Puccini, and sometimes, Verdi selections, with no microphones or amplification, on a slightly raised platform in front of a hundred or so folding chairs. Tonights performers were: Soprano: Francesca Maionchi (Soprano), Domenico Menini (Tenor) and the very talented pianist, Diego Fiorini. The performances were amazing, both the soprano and tenor voices filled the room. But it was Diego Fiorini that stole my heart and brought tears to my eyes. Such a talented pianist, beautiful. The concert ran for about one hour and was most definitely one of the highlights of my trip. After the concert I made my way to Piazza dell'Anfiteatro for dinner. During my meal I reflected on the performances and Giacomo Puccini. Born in Lucca on 22nd December 1858, he underwent surgery for throat cancer in Brussels on November 24th, and died several days later on November 29th, 1924. Yet, his music lives on 😊
