Another of the bridges in Florence and it is interesting mainly because it offers a beautiful view of the famous Ponte Vecchio. From the Ponte alle Grazie there is a nice view of the river Arno and also of the beautiful Tuscan nature with the rolling hills that surround Florence.

This bridge is especially impressive in the early evening and at sunset, which will give the otherwise rather dirty Arno river and the houses on the waterfront more idyllic colors for your photos than if you shoot during the day.

My husband and I discovered, accidentally, that Ponte alle Grazie is the perfect place to do a bit of birdwatching if you're a keen birder (as we are) and happen to be in Florence. There is a weir beneath the bridge that is frequented by many different species of heron - we saw little and great egrets, grey, night and squacco herons. Looking east from the bridge, on the south bank of the Arno, there is the Terzo Giardino, which is a haven for warblers and finches of all kinds. We also saw nuthatches and treecreepers in the Boboli Gardens.

Ponte alle Grazie is not as crowded as Ponte Vecchio, so it is possible to catch moments to take photos of Arno River.

A traveler before me characterized this bridge as a perfect spot for birdwatching. Well, I should say it’s 100% true! We crossed the Arno over Ponte alle Grazie several days in a row at the very end of September: in the evening, just before the sunset, you could feel yourself in a kind of small natural reserve rather then in two steps from the busy city center. One evening we counted 8 (!) herons, grey and white, in the shallows under the bridge. And there was another surprise waiting for us: we saw a beaver swimming right in the middle of the river towards the nearby shrubbery on the lower bank! And guess what! When we return to Ponte alle Grazie next day roughly at the same time, the beaver was there again! So, if you want to have a nice pause after a tiring sightseeing day, that would be a great spot to observe nature right in the heart of the city!

During the day time and with the river water down, the river is rather dirty and un-inspiring. The famous artist from before must have a good imagination ;-)

This is a wide and wonderfully constructed bridge. The views from here are just amazing! I stood here and watched the sunset. The river below was simmering gold. What a scene! The bridge also has a comical "suicide man", a statue trying to jump of the bridge.

Go here around sunset. Don't forget your camera.

This bridge offers great views up and down the river. It was raining several of the days I was here but on the sunny day the views were great.

Great bridge for a stroll. I enjoyed the view very much. Not the best bridge I've been to but it sure hit the spot. What a good view.

While this bridge might not be very spectacular in its present reconstructed form, and besides letting you conveniently cross the Arno river, it offers a great view of the famous Vecchio bridge, which make it worth the stroll along the river to reach this bridge.
