Neighborhood: Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.

Needed a massage to relieve some discomfort from surgery. The massage itself was excellent, and the environment congenial, clean, and not at all institutional. The premises are located just a few minutes from the Duomo, so it is very central. The cost was reasonable.

Terrible pedicure
May 2015 • Solo
Not up to U.S. standards! Nor UK, nor Estonian pedicure standards for that matter, so I'm not being ethnocentric here. Atmosphere was blah, employees were nice enough, but my pedicure (which I desperately needed) was pretty much the worst of my life. No pedi chair--just soak your feet in a basin of water. I saw the nail girl bring the basin to the bathroom to rinse it out for the next client and I hope (but doubt) she used disinfectant and not just water. I also hope the instruments were autoclaved. Not relaxing, on the painful side, and no foot or leg massage. Three days later and back in the U.S., one of my big toes is still tender and the skin near the nail broken. I hope it does not get infected. DO NOT GO!
