Personalized service with pick up and drop off at or near your hotel. All fitness/skill levels and fully van-supported. Several rides to choose from for varied interests, including wine and olive oil tasting, gelato tasting, historic castles and off-the-beaten path medieval villages. First-rate equipment (and electric bikes too!). Ask about our new cooking class ride for foodies! Florentine Marco Vignoli, a former bicycle racer, founded I Bike Tuscany. His wish is to share with you his passion for amazing scenery, adventure, great food and wine and, of course, biking. It's his belief there is no better or more exciting way to experience the singularly beautiful region of his homeland than from the seat of a "bicicletta," and so has worked hard to create some very special and unique itineraries that we're sure will have you believing the same. We look forward to your joining us for a day (or trip) you'll keep in your heart, take home with you and never forget.

Our Big Three Family ride was among the highlights of our family’s Italy vacation! Our kind, accommodating, awesome guide Susy gave such great insight and local knowledge of the places we visited. She also helped adjust our wine tasting time when we fell slightly behind schedule, so we wouldn’t miss any of the total experience. The downhill route on the bikes was STUNNINGLY beautiful. We even spotted a wild boar up close while cycling! It’s also worth mentioning the bicycle equipment provided was both brand new and high-end, creating such a comfortable ride on the tour.
I’ll spare readers the details, but anyone motion sensitive should consider grabbing a window seat on the winding drive into the country. Susy and our driver could not have been kinder when one of our family had a rough time on the drive.
If you happen to be in Florence, I HIGHLY recommend checking out ibiketuscany!

We had a fantastic day with Chris as our guide, biking through Tuscany. We rented a car and he was very clear and communicative about the meeting location, although I understand there is also a shuttle service from Florence if needed. He allowed us some time to explore the town of Barbarino Val D'Elsa on foot, and we were then fitted with our e-bikes. The bikes we received were top notch, and he guided us through some incredible hills and scenery, made very doable with the e-bike! Chris is a really personable guy, with lots of insight and entertaining stories about how he's adjusted to life in Italy after marrying an Italian! Lunch at the winery was amazing, with a private tour of their facilities, time to explore the beautiful grounds, and a fantastic lunch with wine tasting. Chris provided us water for the ride and was great at keeping the group together while riding safely in single file fashion. We highly recommend this experience, it's a fantastic way to see the countryside, experience the food and wine, and get a little exercise!

I can't say enough good things about I Bike Tuscany! We contacted them to ask about a bike tour from Florence to Siena (one way as we would be staying the night in Siena). Marco was very responsive and helped set us up with a private bike tour through the Chianti region with a stop in Castellina in Chianti coffee and further along the route at a family-run winery before finishing just outside of Siena. The communication was easy and very clear. Chris Small was our guide and he was an absolute delight. He was very knowledgable about the region and shared lots of interesting stories/facts along the way. The bikes were excellent and made for a great ride through absolutely beautiful countryside (just about 20 miles). The experience far exceeded our expectations. If you're on the fence, do it. It's worth the cost for such a unique experience. We look forward to returning to Italy and doing another tour with Chris! Did I mention that you should do it? You should.

We recently did the Big Three Family Ride in Tuscany. This was a fun, easy ride, but felt this was very expensive for what you get. It cost 150 euros per person to start(there were 4 of us), plus we were charged an extra 100 euros to be picked up in Siena, which made no sense as our tour guide was already from Tuscany, and her ride to get us was way shorter than having to go all the way to Florence. Then at the start I was asked to pay the full remaining balance in cash euros, which I did not have, and had planned to pay by PayPal which is what we were originally offered. After a stop at the cash machine, we did a quick gelato visit before starting our downhill bike ride. Very pretty road, great scenery, but it lasted only about 1 hour(even with frequent stops) then headed to San Gimignano. Tuscan village. Very pretty, but also very touristy, where we were dropped off for about 1 1/2 hours. Ended the day with a wine tasting at a very nice Tuscan winery. Very classy and good wines and very nice atmosphere. Overall, was a nice day, but not thinking its worth the 175 euro pp cost. Expensive for what you get, and hard to justify the additional 100 euro cost to pick us up in Siena instead of Florence.

We are very sorry to hear that you were not completely happy with your bike tour. Our goal is to not only meet but exceed our clients’ expectations with each and every tour.
I’d like to clarify that our guide does live in Tuscany (which is a very large region that includes the city of Florence), in the nearby countryside. And, in fact, all of our guides live in or around Florence. That’s why we charge an additional fee for pick up and drop offs outside of the Florence area (to account for the extra time and fuel involved). This additional charge was communicated before you booked as is always standard for out of the way pick up/drop offs.
As for the overall cost of the day, please keep in mind that we kept your tour private, just for the four of you, as you indicated in your first email you were interested in a private ride. Normally, private tours incur an additional 30% fee. This I waived for you and your family as a special (happy to be back!/post-pandemic) courtesy. In general, I know there are companies that charge much less but they are usually large groups, sometimes with 15-20 people! And a private tour with only four riders would be much, much more expensive.
Keeping our customers happy is very important to us. First and foremost, because we love what we do and love hearing that our clients consider the time spent biking with us in Tuscany as one of the highlights of their trip. We hope that based on the above clarification you will reconsider your opinion towards us and hopefully join IBT for another ride in the future. If that’s not possible, we hope you’ll recommend us to your friends. For that we would be most grateful.

We took a private one day bike tour. We were picked up in a comfortable van in Florence and brought to a small town called Castalina . Our bikes were set up there for us and our guide. Chris even had extra jackets because it was a little rainy, along with bike helmets and water bottles. Throughout the entire day Chris gave us detailed information about the area. The bike route was beautiful on quiet streets sand rolling hills passing vineyards, and we stopped for a wine tasting along the way. We ended our bike ride near Siena where Chris put the bikes back in the van; from there we had three hours to explore the city of Siena ourselves. After we were driven back to Florence. Chris was very entertaining. He also took photos of us and shared them with us after the ride. If you are hesitant at all about going for a bike ride, don’t worry because Chris is nearby with the van at all times looking out for his riders. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to see part of the Chianti region.

One of our Tuscan highlights ... don't miss this tour! Chris picked us up at our Agritourismo high above Florence and whisked us out deep in the beautiful Chianti region to the town of Gaiole. He and Mark expertly guided us through the beautiful hills to Castello di Brolio which was my favorite castle of our one month in Tuscany. The history and views were spectacular and not a bad wine tasting experience either. From there we worked our way uphill to the gorgeous town of Castagnoli where our amazing lunch restaurant awaited. After a few more glasses of wine, Chris and Mark guided us safely back. Chris our Scottish fanatic bike rider spent hours discussing life and the Tuscan region with us. What a great tour and seriously don't miss this wonderful experience in Tuscany. Bravisimo Chris and Mark

A highlight of our trip to Italy. We were so well taken care of by Chris and our bike guy was INCREDIBLE! They were on time, professional, fun, informative and catered to out needs as we do not drink wine. Funny enough the olive oil tasting might have been the most fun thing that day for my 2 boys. We would HIGHLY recommend this tour if you want a VIP bike tour experience!

Chris Small is an engaging knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide. His insights were fantastic not only about the beautiful scenery we rode through but about Italy in general. By the end of the day my wife and I felt like we were old friends. His preparation of the bikes was flawless and we felt safe and cared for as he monitored the ride from the van with frequent stops to check on us. He thoroughly prepared us go up the one challenging hill which we did with no problem. It was a highlight of our 18 day Italy trip. Just amazing.

My wife and I had an absolutely phenomenal time on our private Chianti Classico Road Cycling Tour with Chris Small. After Chris picked us up right by our Airbnb, he brought us out to the gorgeous villa, set us up with brand new Moda bikes and even went through the trouble of cutting a seat tube of one of them to make sure my wife had a perfect fit. The route was an excellent: with incredible climbs, descents, and views that you wouldn't believe. Chris' communication during the ride was excellent. He let us know every time we should be expecting corners, gradient changes, cars, when to slow down etc. We felt very safe on the road, riding along side him. To end it all off, we were brought out to Fattoria Montecchio for a wine tour and a delicious lunch.
We had been all over Italy on this trip and by far this tour was one of the top highlights. It's such a perfect way to get out of the city and see what Tuscany has to offer and Chris was the perfect host. Next time we're in the area, without question, we'll be booking a tour with Chris again. Massive thanks to Chris for an unforgettable experience.

Our bike tour with Chris was a highlight of our trip to Italy! Chris was an incredible guide in all the important ways. He showed up at our hotel early, energetic and smiling. He took great care of us during the day, keeping us safe on the road, pointing out the many interesting sites, recommending a great lunch restaurant in San Gimignano, and telling us great stories - historical and personal - to bring Tuscany alive for us. He is very thoughtful too - he went out of his way to take us to a pharmacy where we could buy urgently needed allergy meds for our teenager, and took some great family photos that we will cherish for years to come. Did I mention the scrumptious gelato, and the wine?
I should also mention Marco, who we corresponded with to arrange the tour. He kindly set us up on this private day trip with Chris when the group tour we had planned to take was full. We'll definitely be doing another I Bike Tuscany tour next time we're in Italy. Highly highly recommend!

Hi there, We are visiting Tuscany next month (in February 2017). Do you offer bike tours at this time of year? If not, could you recommend somebody who does?

We are interested in the Gelato Ride. Going to Florence would take us way out of our way. Can we meet the tour near Castellina and avoid the van ride to and from Florence?
Written August 31, 2016
I agree. She dropped us off at our hotel in Siena for fuel costs. She's very accommodating.
