Recently my granddaughter visited me from England and asked if we could tour Florence
with an eye to understanding why the Renaissance had its origins in that city. I have lived
here forty years but was not sure of an answer so we asked Emily Grassi at Citta Nascosta
to help us understand why here and why then. She was stunningly well informed about every aspect of the
cultural, religious, sociological and economic background and explained how it
was all entwined generating the energy and creativity that is now called the Renaissance. She nudged us subtly but methodically to an understanding of the process
that brought great wealth and great power to this relatively small yet fiercely independant city. I would recommend Emily's guidance for anyone who wants a view to why Florence was the birthplace of Humanism. That is what the city
is all about and we often lack the insight to see why. Our tour was rewarding and
we highly recommend it anyone looking for this perspective on our beautiful and artistically endowed
city.

I have just got back from a long weekend in Florence. In order to visit the city properly and try to instill some culture in my children I booked two half days with a private guide. They also booked museum tckets for me. I was advised to do a city tour first which was brilliant in order to understand the lay of the town and its main monuments. After which we had another half day visiting two museums. It was the best part of our stay in Florence. Our guide was amazing, very knowledgable interesting and patient with the children, asking them questions to tease out their history and hisory of art. It is the way forward from now on.

Citta Nascosta planned our trip with absolute attention to detail and with total perfection. We saw amazing sights even many not typically opened to the public and all the logistics were flawless. We never had to worry about anything which made the trip both enjoyable and stress free. All of the guides with Citta Nascosta were so knowledgable and friendly and we are now happy to call them our new friends.
