We stumbled across this shop walking back to our hotel and loved what we found inside. It’s had gorgeous cards and notebooks and the staff member was extremely friendly and helpful. Products are on expensive side but I think you’re paying for the quality and uniqueness. Would recommend visiting this store

Wish I could give this gem of a store 100 stars! The owner is a 5th generation paper maker and is the friendliest man in all of Florence. We chatted with him for nearly an hour and he invited me back the next day to give me a lesson on how to make the marbled paper. Alas, we were leaving, but next time I get to Florence, I'm carving our an entire day - or week- just for Francesco! The shop was lovely and the paper products are top notch. I think there are a few of these stores, but the one by the Duomo is the real deal.

They have beautiful hand decorated paper as well as wonderful leather books. They will talk to you about the paper, as well as show you how the paper is decorated. The staff is very friendly and the prices are very reasonable (considering the quality of the work). Highly recommend a visit.

Beware of trying to visit according to the location on TripAdvisor. There is an Il Papiro there, but it’s not the store that the photos & reviews that generally accompany this on TripAdvisor are of. We visited the store on the bank of the Arno, it was nice but you could barely swing a cat, let alone do marbling demonstrations there.
The next day we chanced across another Il Papiro on Via de Guiccigardini on the way to the Pitti Palace. This store is big, with a demonstration area, a “museum” and lots of products to choose from. The shopkeeper was very knowledgeable and helpful.
I’ve deducted a star for TripAdvisor wasting our time visiting the wrong store.

This has the most amazing selection of beautiful paper artifacts, from bookmarks to notebooks, diaries, playing cards, wrapping paper and more. It is a great place to browse, but you will want to come away with something, I can guarantee it!

This is a wonderful little shop with marbled paper, journals and more. Such a great place to find a truly Florentine gift for a friend, purchase a unique card or get a lovely leather journal with colorful marbled accents. The only negative is that is somewhat pricey. That said, it is definitely worth checking out even if you only window shop.

We were pleasantly surprised by our visit to this unique shop. Ricardo performed a demonstration of how they decorate their hand decorated papers. There are very unique gifts and other items of interest. The prices were reasonable for handcrafted high quality paper products.

So this is the first and probably the last shop I rate on Trip Advisor, but it's definately worth it.
You don't have to go in with a tought of buying something but my guess is you will after you encounter the beautiful works of art in the shop.
Also, ask to be shown how the unique paper is made and one of the friendly guys working there will take you in the back room and show you the whole incredible process.
This was an absolute and unexpected delight in visiting Florence and I fell in love with the shop almost immediately.
Please, go there. And stay as long as you like. The world stops there and it's one of the shops you'll remember for the rest of your life. My wife had to drag me out of there to come on time to the Uffizi gallery.

So much lovely stuff but really really expensive. Sure hope what I purchased was hand crafted.
The marbled papers and the cards with cut outs were pretty unique.
We passed several of these, not sure how many exist in town. Small space but with good selections.

First, there are 7 locations in Florence, some small, some bigger, but all are small. I believe we went into the location on Via Cavour, 49r but I cannot be sure. As many of you know days and hours blend together when you are on vacation. We were greeted by the store manager / owner. He pulled us aside and into a back room where he gave us a demonstration and history of the paper. Fascinating. We bought pieces to frame and multiple gifts for friends at home. Wonderful items that didn't take up a lot of room in the baggage. Bonus

Do they offer tours of their factory?

One of the stores shows small demos. Don't think there are "factory tours" the way you are thinking.

Bueno. Il Papiro es un mundo lleno de color. Desde los increíbles y auténticos papeles teñidos hasta las plumas fuente y los sellos de cera, todos MUY ÚNICOS.
