Simple and nestled into (literally) the buildings that surround it, the mixture of incense, candlelight and the sound of footsteps on flagstones in the beautiful simplicity of Romanesque architecture made this feel truly religious compared to the barn-like Duomo.

10:30 a.m. Sunday's English Mass with Father Scott Murphy is a great way to start one's Sunday. He is always friendly and inviting.

This chiesa, church very close to Ponte Vecchio in Firenze, Florence, is sooo old and soooo tiny and at the same time picturesque with so much old Italian art to watch in the candle-lit atmosphere, especially the wooden ceiling still preserved and the surroundings of very tiny square and closeness of Arno river...perfect for just relax, break or stop from highly touristic streets and main major landmarks of Firenze, here almost nobody or only prayers and you with more than 1000-year-old walls or stones or something....what had been preserved, many reconstructions but the base stone is still there. Highly recommended....apart form many other chiesas in Firenze....this one is undoubtedly worth visiting and experiencing....

Located at the tiny Piazza del Limbo, Chiesa dei Santi Apostoli is one of the oldest church buildings in the city. It dates back to the 11th century. While renovated during the 15th-century, much of the Medieval and Romanesque features of the church were preserved.

The interior is a shallow with two side aisles lined with small chapels and altars. Highlights include the Tabernacle of Giovanni della Robbia (circa 1512), Holy Sepulcher (fire holder) and the Tomb of Oddo Altoviti. There is an illumination machine near the church entrance. For 1 Euro, you can light up the entire interior, making the artworks much easier to see and appreciate.

Walking in the Borgo Santi Apostoli is a beautiful experience ... parallel to the Arno, walking between the Ponte Vecchio and Ponte Santa Trinita ... it's a neighborhood of narrow cobblestone streets, arches, brilliant shadows, and little shops that seem to serve the locals, not tourists. Before you get all the way to the fashionista shops on Via della Tournabuoni, you'll find the beautifully tiny Piazza del Limbo from a different time. And there in that small place is one of the oldest buildings in Florence -- this Romanesque church is quite compact and equally serene. A wonderful place to visit an ancient sacred place. We build memories of the church every time we are in Florence

As with all of Italy they know how to build beautiful churches and it may not be the grandest church in the world but it is still worth a visit.

Do not miss this hidden gem on a small Piazza del Limbo. Built in the 11th century, Santi Apostoli is one of the oldest churches in Florence.
It is located near the Ponte Vecchio, but not much people enter Piazza del Limbo, small and charming by itself, rushing to more known attractions. Interior is simple and calm and there are some points not to be missed, from my point of view. Green marble columns with capitals from ancient Roman remains, interesting and richly decorated wooden ceiling, an amazing terracotta tabernacle on the left and a great work of Giorgio Vasari on the right (photos added). And there is much more to see…

We attended the English mass here on Ascension Sunday. It was lovely. There are many beautiful artworks in the 11th century church. We sat next to a large Vasari of the Blessed Virgin Mary which was astounding. There is also della Robbia and other masters there. The architecture is splendid.

This is a tiny church but well worth seeking out both for the glorious interior but also for the tiny square in which it is set. Crammed with history and art, just go!

It's a beautiful church, and they even have an English Mass on Sunday morning! I thought it was worth stopping in. It is antique and really has its own character amidst so many grandiose attractions in Florence. It is operated by the Legionaries of Christ.
