Neighborhood: Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.

We found this leather shop as a happy accident. My wife and I were out exploring Florence I just happened to be outside of our breakfast shop and I walked into Gianni. Gianni and I started a conversation regarding my Mexican hat and then we establish a conversation about other topics and after we finish breakfast Gianni invited and walked with us to Dante Leather shop we had a great opportunity to meet Dante and Karina our new best friends in Florence. Upon further conversation and trying few jackets my wife and I bought each other a jacket nice leather after long conversation with Dante, Gianni and Karina, Gianni walked us to purses shop and meet Mati and off course my wife went crazy and bought herself few purses for her and my daughter, election is amazing. Great place and people also they told us that they are going to be in La Jolla California next February 2017 if you have an opportunity please contact them for a private invitation to the show.

We found this leather shop as a happy accident. My wife and I were out exploring Florence our first day there. We happened to walk by an alley and saw that there were outdoor market shops set up all along the alley. Upon further exploration it was amazed at the amount if leather goods that most of the stands had, about 80% of them were selling leather items, purses, belts, and of course jackets. Dante's was one of these shops, we were greeted by Mati, a nice fellow from Argentina and he led us inside to the store(the outdoor shop leads into the store front). The selection is amazing and I got a handmade lambskin leather jacket tha was made in Italy for $200 euro ($260 American ) amazing! My wife's jacket on the pic was only $150 euro. Great place and people!

Go to Venice for glass, Parma for cheese, and Dante Leather Factory in Florence for leather. You'll leave with the most beautiful jackets and stories to make your friends jealous. Franco, you have a customer for life!!

I bought a jacket at one of their shops in Florence. They didn't have the correct size, so was promised one to be sent within 3 weeks. It never arrived and I am out 450 Euros. None of the phone numbers reach anyone and the email on their website would not go through. An impossible situation from afar and HUGE error on my part. Buyer beware -

Was fortunate enough to purchase not one, but two shearling coats from this store. Felt the sales associate was somewhat pushy and was willing to sell me something even if it wasn’t the right fit.

Met Franco Fonati, the owner of Dante Leather Factory, and had an amazing experience trying on custom, original, beautifully handcrafted leather jackets! Franco and his staff were so fun and helpful. Purchased beautiful leather jackets! An overall wonderful experience in Italy that my husband and I will always remember! Thank you Franco!

Visiting with Franco and his staff at Dante Leather, David 2 Leather, for our fourth time was as usual a very fun shopping experience. His leather coats are beautiful and very high quality. The visit is a great experience from the time you are greeted with a glass of Franco’s wine to his ability to pick the right style in the right size. Our friends who accompanied us on this trip also came away with beautiful coats. Looking forward to seeing you again in the future, Franco.

My mother and I had the pleasure of being served and fitted by "Phat Mike" he may say it for the weight I say it because his word, craft and excellency is Bon! I asked him if he could find something that would fit my mother like a glove and compliment her figure and he did that and more with his mastery and impeccable styling and a natural knowledge of what a person will look amazing in. He picked out a jacket so perfectly on the money for my mom it even brought out her eyes that I asked him to do the same for me. I'm a little picker and he took down my measurements took the color swatch he could get as close to seafoam as possible for me and he said he would mail me the jacket directly to my home and that in fact we could still get his great fashion sense and wonderful handmade styles back in the states as they have a cousin store that they ship to in NYC. I told him that if the jacket gets to my door step I would write him a great review and let everyone know where to go to get great quality handmade and tanned leather and suede goods and jackets all that feel like they could melt in your hand they cure it so smoothly. I'm waiting on a picture someone took of me on Easter with the jacket on and I will take photos of both jackets to accompany this post and truly encourage anyone who does enjoy well made leather and suede products to be pampered by the one and only Phat Mike! I will say I was skeptical but as the employee whom works there that is in the first photo of this location told me I should be more trusting and I can assure anyone if you're on the streets of Florence and you happen upon this amazing store just behind the bustle of the leather street vendors lined up on the Via dell'Ariento 71-75r and you must be measured for and pay for a jacket that is said to come in the mail in a few weeks be more than rest assured that you will receive exactly what you wanted and will be as overly pleased as I am and as I've read a couple of other reviews other live long made customers have too. Molta Grazie Phat Mike!!!!!

my sister and I had such a fun visit at Dante leather in Florence. I fell in love with a beautiful short jacket and planned to get back there the next day to purchase it but we were too late getting back from a day trip to Sienna. and the next day we had an early train to Rome. If you fall in love with something, don't wait. just buy it. The quality is second to none.

This was the first leather store we went into and bought right then. We were very happy with the quality, selection and the service. The sleeves on my jacket needed to be shortened. This was done within the hour!
The only reservation is that we did not get the right form to claim the VAT because the system was down. We never did get the VAT back.Other than that, we were very happy with our purchases and the dedicated care while there.

Hello Dante...we purchased 2 ladies leather jackets Nov.9 and asked that they be shipped to us in the states. Your salesperson was wonderful but we have not received them yet. I have tried numerous times to contact you by phone to determine the status of the order, but no one ever answered. Having no way to contact you, I am somewhat concerned after reading a very negative review. Can you please contact me and assure me these Xmas gifts are on the way. Thanks Joan

Franco,
There used to be a store called "Raffaello Leather Factory" on your street. The owner was Stefano Di Nero. Is he still around? We became friends after I visted Firenze and wanted to look him up on Facebook. Thanks! Lisa Thomas Smith
