Salamanca is a great place if you are looking to arrange something with friends that is nice inside, good music, great food and you wont be pushed out the door the second you finish your food. Overall a very good place to go. Call ahead to make reservations and remember friday and saturday night , its PACKED, good luck getting in because there is always so many people.. by the way.. the bartenders are very VERY attractive guys , Im convinced thats half the reason peole go there although the food is a close second ,D.

This is a very nice place, not far from Florence's city centre, very close to the Santa Croce Square and also Teatro Verdi. The music is fine, the tapas are great, the owner of the place is very attentive with his staff and clients. The staff is very friendly and the service is impeccable. The cocktails made by Christian are simply amazing ;)
I would definitely recommend it to my friends.

Truly awful food and Spanish stafff in denial about quality (or too scared of the owner)Stumbled into Salamanca before George Michael gig thinking only had time for a drink saw that they did tapas and thought that was a great solution for food being pressed for time and hlaf Spanish. All the dishes we ordered other than the cheese platter were truly horrible and so obviously just heated up in the microwave - we were served very quickly. The tortilla was particularly disappointing and a bone of contention with the Spanish waitress to whom we vigorously complained in Spanish. She said that she had seen it earlier in the day and "tenia buena pinta" - it looked good. May be she had seen it the day/week before. It was dry and rubbery. Likewise Pollo al Ajillo, Croquetas Caseras (nothing homemade about them) and a seafood salad with tiny horrible frozen parwns. We were offered €10 Euros off the bill after having to argue about it. It might be OK for drinks/dancing but if you want edible food go elsewhere.

we live in florence, and wanted a break from italian. spanish food sounded great. i just got back from the restaurant and i am literally nauseous. i feel like i drank an 8 oz glass of oil..... because i did. walked into the restaurant and watched waitresses avert their gazes for 5 min so as not to have to stop talking to bartender to seat someone. was sat in a grimy back room with a birthday party. menus didn't come for ages. ordered the worst sangria ever. tasted like chemicals, and overly sweet trash. then the cheese with chorizo came. came with a 2 inch swimming pool of oil on it. and that was not chorizo, that some form of breakfast sausage. hubby and i agreed it was inedible and moved on. my meal came (no exaggeration): a tablespoon of cold flavorless beans, a shoe-leather tough piece of meat, a weird scoop of ricotta?????gag. and a folded over corn tortilla with hardened "melted" cheese. in the time it took for me to try it and realize i would rather shoot myself than eat it, the husband's food never came. and never came. and my napkin is crumpled on my plate, and still it never came. we told the waitress to cancel the order (and saved a stomach pumping) paid, and left. please, please, don't bother.

We came across this Spanish/Mexican restaurant not far from Plaza Santa Cruce on a hot day in August. It was in the early afternoon and it was a cool oasis to relax for a while. The decor was authentic and a great change from some of the more modern cafes and restaurants and our host could not have been more charming and helpful in providing a potted history of the restaurant. The fare is primarily Spanish/Mexican but they cater for all tastes - and the food is really special. Unfortunately, we were leaving later that day so could not return in the evening when the place really comes alive (see their website for details). It was a highlight of our visit to Florence and should not be missed.

The ambiance was great, along with the food and service. Get there before 10:30 to avoid the crowded bar and loud music if you want to enjoy a nice evening dinner and of course order a karafe of Sangria! But if you are looking for a a place to meet people and dance a little, come after 10:30 and enjoy the crowd and the amazing drinks made by the BEST bar tenders in italy! With great drinks, loud music and a plethora of people to meet, it won't be hard to stick around until closing (2am-ish).
