Highly recommend. My husband and I Did this bike tour on our first morning in Florence. We overslept due to jet lag and almost missed it but they called as we were walking out of our hotel and waited for us. It was just the two of us and our guide (her name is escaping me right now) was wonderful. She said the max group size is only 6, so I think you can count on a fairly personal experience. We had to request helmets (rare for them to wear them in a Italy), but they accommodated. We rode uphill through the wealthier wooded neighborhood to Piazza Michelangelo for wonderful view of the city and a nice history lesson from our guide before beginning our decent back down into the Florence's center. We stopped for a cappuccino (our guide offered gelato but it was a little early and chilly for that so we asked if we could do coffee and pastries instead, which she paid for). Then we rode on to major piazzas and landmarks throughout the center of the city, navigating through crowds of tourists. It was a great way to cover the city efficiently and looked like a much better experience than the large walking tours walking slowly through congested piazzas. We learned a lot from our guide and found the entire experience to be worthwhile.

Nevertheless the team is extremely service oriented and nice ( like in most places in Italy) there should be more biking in the tour and this was the comment from the whole group. Historical facts are important no doubt, but if it is about biking after all and particularly people who like biking gather to go biking and excursion , specifics should be oriented to doing the most things on the run , and not to stop for 5 minutes each 5 minutes....

My parents (50-somethings) and I (26) took a 10 am bike tour of Florence with Barbara. Barbara is a Florence native and has a degree in art history; she is a very knowledgeable tour guide. The first portion of the bike tour was a little bit intimidating as it was uphill, but it ended up being fairly easy. The rest of the tour was downhill or on flat terrain and was a breeze. Even though we were a tad unlucky with the weather (it was cold and raining and we weren't dressed for it), Barbara's knowledge about Florentine history and art/architectural history in particular really made this tour a great experience.

This was a great tour. We did the evening tour with Barbara. At first I was a litte disappointed, because I wanted to see the sunset from Michelangelo Plaza, but she took us up there first, at 6:00 pm. She did this for 2 reasons. First, there is an Orchid Garden by the plaza that is only open for 2 weeks out of the year, that closed at 7:00 pm. So we were able to go thru the garden, which was beautiful. Secondly, she felt if we waited until the end of the tour to go up the L-O-N-G hill to Michelangelo plaza, we would be too tired. She was absolutely right. It was also somewhat crowded on the plaza and I can only imagine what it was like at sunset. The tour was fun, and Barbara was very knowledgeable. She took us to a spot that had the BEST gelato we had for the whole 2 weeks we were in Europe! She knew the whole history of Florence from the political and religious perspectives. She was able to answer every question was very laid back, but professional. We never felt rushed or unable to ask a question. There were 4 people in our group.

We really enjoyed this. Mario our guide was very knowledgable and enthusiastic about his subject.
The sunset at Piazzale Michelangelo is beautiful as was the gelato in a little off-the-beaten-track place.
We had already spent two days exploring Florence but still enjoyed seeing places we'd already been to from a different angle. We'd recommend that people do this early on in their trip to Florence in order to get the best experience.
A terrific evening.

This tour was VERY fairly priced, especially for students. Reading the description on the website, I was under the impression that this bike tour would be in the evening, but we still began the tour before the "evening". It was a great introduction to Florence to those who have never traveled here before, as we got to see all of the major landmarks there. I was a little disappointed that we did not get to see the "less well known local areas of the city" as the website had stated. We also did not get to cycle in the Cascine park, which I was also a little disappointed in. At the end of the tour, we got to see the sun set over the Arno River while we were on top of Michelangelo Drive (which is my favorite spot in Florence, so I was very pleased with that).
Overall, it was a pretty good tour for the price. Highly recommended for those who want to get acquainted with Florence's major landmarks.

My family took the evening bike ride in Florence in June and really enjoyed it. We came to Florence from Rome, and after seeing the traffic in Rome, I was sure we were going to die on a bike ride in Florence. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Florence didn't have the crazy traffic of Rome. Once I saw this, I was able to thoroughly enjoy the bike ride. Our guide stopped at several sites in the heart of Rome and explained them to us. We then rode our bikes across the Arno River and up a very gradual-sloping hill to look down on Florence at the sun was going down. Beautiful!. We ended the ride with a stop for gelato. Overall, the bike ride wasn't difficult, even the hill. We'd recommend it for others considering a bike ride in Florence.

We loved our bike tour, riding from 6-9pm though Florence. The 5 of us are not big history buffs so some of us did a little more people-watching than listening when we stopped in the famous squares. But it was so one-on-one that we could ask anything we wanted.
We never would have covered so much ground on foot, never would have found the Very Cool little area with fabulous gelato that Mario took us to. I'm not a crazy-for-gelato person, but the Ginger sorbet and Grapefruit sorbet I had at that place were through-the-roof good! Mario made sure my nut-allergy kid got hers served with fresh scoopers.
The last part was taking a nice, long (for me) ride up the hill for an incredible view of the city and then quite the joy-ride back down, along a winding route without cars. We were all thrilled with the experience!

we loved our bike trip. it was our first experience riding electric bikes. hills were no problem.........even for a 65 yr old man. our guide was very knowledgeable. we covered perhaps 20 miles. we visited an estate that is located on a mt side outside of the city. and we travelled across to the other side of the Arno River to the Piazzale Michelangelo.
