A decently maintained cemetery
Jul 2017 • Couples
Went to the cemetery specifically to visit the grave of Oriana Fallaci: the cemetery is located in a very beautiful area of Florence and it is decently maintained.
I had to seek help to locate the grave and the florist was very nice and helpful.
It was overall a very positive experience.

Gracious dignity

we visited this cemetery to find the grave of John Pope Hennessy and was astonished at how well this cemetery is set out and maintained. We were given a map showing the locations of many prominent British and Europeans. There were places to sit and rest in quiet contemplation. and a siren sounded at various intervals warning you that the cemetery was due to close. There is always a sadness about visiting graves, especially when there is no longer anyone to care for them, as was the case of two enormous monuments which were decayed and crumbling. There was one unusual grave which displayed a rather unattractive sculpture, and we were told that this was done by the sculptor in preparation of his demise!

Visited the cemetary a few years, with a piece of paper identifying where my grandparents were buried. The staff were most helpful and despite the fact i barely speak a word of Italian were able to take me to the graves. It was very emotional as although i had never met my grandparents to see the gravestones with my family name on was sureal. My father had agreed a maitenance fee for the grave, and it was beautifully kept.I hope to return this summer.
Hope to return soon to this very attractive and well maintained tranquil part of Florence
