Walking along the Arno River in Florence is a joy! It's a great way to decompress from the hustle and bustle of the historic tourist areas. During our recent visit to this beautiful Renaissance city, we enjoyed walking along the river from its edge or from above and across its bridges numerous times at different times of day and night. Get a great view of the Ponte Vecchio from the bridges further up and down the river and just watch for a few minutes. Fun to see that same view at night too! Cross over to the Oltrarno at night to enjoy a view of the Uffizi reflected in the river's flowing waters. In the evening, just enjoy the breeze coming off the water.

The river bisects Old Florence with New Florence (Pettit Palace) . It has flooded and created a large mess. Some of building showed the flood line and it was almost 4 ft deep in some areas. This has many bridges with the Vecchio Corridor along it, Porto Vecchio.

The Arno river adds so much flair to the town of Florence. It add a lovely backdrop for photos and a refresher from all the buildings. It breathes live and energy into the city and diverts away from the concrete jungle.

Like many rivers in many other cities, to have Arno River through the city is nice. Along the river, it is possible to find many shopping and eating facilities. There is traffic almost always and pedestrian way is quite narrow. So, it is difficult to have a comfortable walk.

i had a chance to see this beautiful view in Florence when i went across Ponte Vecchio, as well as in Pisa as we were walking from Pisa Centrale to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. both places were equally beautiful. It was in the morning in Pisa, the colour scheme was breathtaking

Saw lots of bridges spanning Arno river. The most iconic bridge is Ponte Vecchio. Lots of people were on the bridge for various reasons. Some were there to shop for jewellery, some were on the bridge for
the first time , some were were busy taking
photos, some were there to admire the nearby bridges. A most interesting spot of the river is where one could take a beautiful photo of the reflection of Uffizi on the waters. One can get a good view of the river and the many bridges across it from Michaelangelo's square.

Even though there are monuments, cafes and shops along the river, it’s a peaceful walk day or night. And one of the best sunsets we've ever seen was from Ponte Vecchio. Anyone who appreciates older bridges and architecture will have plenty to photograph here.

This is a nice, quiet river in the city of Florence. A river has quite an impact on any city, and so it is here too. It makes the city a little bit lovelier than it is. And Florence is a stunning city. The Arno river is quite serene, at least it was when we were there in May. It is lovely to take a walk by the river, or on one, or more of the numerous bridges over it. The views from many of the bridges, like Ponte Vecchio, are simply spectacular.

Alfred: [to Bruce] ..... I went to Florence, there's this cafe, on the banks of the Arno. Every fine evening, I'd sit there and order a Fernet Branca. I had this fantasy, that I would look across the tables and I'd see you there, with a wife and maybe a couple of kids. You wouldn't say anything to me, nor me to you. But we'd both know that you'd made it, that you were happy 😊

Booked through Viatour who told me the boat would hold just the 10 of us. Turned out this was not correct as once we checked in we were told there would be 24! As we were celebrating a 50th anniversary with our family, which included 5 grandchildren, we thought a private ride would be a highlight. We were also told the ride would be about an hour. Turns out, since you meet at Florencetown offices, that it is a 20 minute walk to the boat. The boat then goes 10 minutes downstream and 10 mites upstream. It was a waste of time and money. Beware of booking anything through Viatour as they gave us wrong information, and if we booked directly it would have been less money.. Via tour is only a booking agent. This is the second time they have disappointed us. (Last time the guide never showed up)!!! I will NEVER book anything with them again.
