This is a delightful spot away from the hustle and bustle of central Florence. The cemetery is mainly English but not exclusively so.Some very interesting graves and a couple of surprises. Do some research first for the best experience, we did not but were lucky to...More

This is a nice cemetery next to a traffic circle and on a hill overlooking the area. Lots of interesting headstones with English writing. The staff was nice and accommodating.

I went here to visit Elizabeth Barrett Browning's grave. It was a little hard to access, as it is in the middle of a traffic circle, but you will be richly rewarded! It is no ordinary graveyard, but a very pretty spot with beautiful flowers...More

This cemetery was a lovely walk from my hostel. It is the final resting place of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, and many others. A nun at the front gate offers a guide, and there is a small gift shop. Funerals are still held there, although space...More

A cemetery is not usually a place on a tourist's must see list, but the Cimetero degli Inlesi (Protestant Cemetery) is a quiet oasis of calm in this city so worth passing through

This is one of the best delights of Florence. Walking the tombs and reading inscriptions, knowing Elizabeth Barrett Browning was sleeping among the pale lilac irises blooming during my recent spring trip was special.

We first visited the English Cemetery in November and December 2014 and were fortunate enough to meet Sister Julia and to have a chat to her about her life there. The cemetery had recently suffered serious storm damage and needed some work. Nevertheless, with her...More

I arrived to find the cemetery closed, not surprising because of other reviews. The sign next to the gate said open Mon 0900-1200 and Tue-Fri 1400-1700. I returned at 1400 only to find the gate still closed & locked. I rang the bell & the...More

Beautiful small monumental cemetery built with the old stones from Florence's old walls. It's a hidden gem, many florentines haven't visited this, but it's really beautiful in spring. The sculptures are unique, some have Gothic/Eclectic elements. I recommend to visit this in spring, in fact...More
