What a perfect day! We were pressed for time during our stay in Florence so we did this tour hoping we would get enough time in each of the stops - and we definitely did. Stefano did a wonderful job of providing relevant information as we drove to each location. He was also friendly and laid back, which we enjoyed. Our guide in Siena also did a great job (can't remember her name, but he was very humorous). I LOVED getting to go into the Duomo - it's been a dream of mine to visit this church and it did not disappoint!
We enjoyed our tour and lunch at Fattoria Poggio Alloro winery (and I very much enjoyed the wine tasting!). Then we went up to San Gimignano with free time to explore. The only issue for us was that we got a bit turned around in our exploration and nearly missed the bus. We'd walked so quickly up the hill from the bus stop that we didn't quite remember how to get back down. But we made it just in time and then went to our last stop at Pisa. We paid for the Tower climb and it was a very interesting climb - that tilt really messed with our heads going up and back down, but the views (through a fence) are quite beautiful at sunset.
We loved our tour and all the beautiful sites we saw!

I was expecting a long day with lots of walking to see the places we were going to see, but I hadn't counted on the long walks from where the bus was able to park to where the touring started. The group was large, but manageable with the voice boxes. The guide did her part to keep the group together and on time and everyone on the trip stayed on time - which was amazing to me (there is usually someone/s who are late.) All-in-all it was a good tour, just more walking than I expected.

Bottom line: good value for a great, broad strokes tour of the region.
My wife and I got this booked through our travel agent, and it was easy to find. Make sure you show up at the time advertised, because it is a tight schedule. Alex was our tour guide, and was very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall we had a great experience and got to see a lot of very different aspects of the area. The only detractor from the Siena tour was that we had radios for a different tour guide (local to Siena - Alex was with us the whole day) was that it was difficult to understand due to the heavy accent combined with the radio noise. My wife and I are also just generally not fans of tours with radios. Otherwise, everything was fantastic. Keep in mind, due to about 40 min to 1.5 hrs between locations, it's a fairly long day. Because we went in November, by the time we got to Pisa, it was dusk and dark within a half hour. There is plenty of lighting, so it doesn't detract from the experience, it's just a different experience, which was pretty cool. Overall it was very fun with a fun tour bus, and we would recommend it to anyone.

Our tour guide was Alessandro, 35 years old and spoke several languages. He answered all of our questions at the beginning of the tour before we could ask him. Our drive, Nando was perfect behind the will. The were several times when I was watching turn tight corners and I was thinking he’s not gonna make this on and sure enough, he made it with ease.
One of the Best tours I’ve taken and these two did a perfect job. Our tour guide told us all the inns and outs if the Italian culture going back many centuries, so he built us up from the beginning to now.
Excellent Job you two,
Jesus Camacho

I did this tour on 20th August, our guide was Elizaberta (unsure if this is spelt correctly) and oh my goodness, she was amazing. So knowledgeable and super helpful with all general tourist questions and recommendations, not just about information on the tour.
The actual tour itself is amazing, especially if your time in Florence is limited. Yes it is a long day but it is well worth it, for sure. Wear good shoes to walk in.
The time schedule is totally manageable to be able to see everything needed, we didn’t feel rushed at all and the lunch that is included I highly recommend, it was so lovely.
Overall a lovely way to spend a day and once again Elizaberta you were incredible! Daniele (unsure if correctly spelt) our driver was also fabulous. Thanks!

Our tour guide, Sara was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the region; friendly, informative and helpful. The winery lunch was delicious and the view spectacular. Kudos to our coach driver (not sure how to spell his name). A fantastic taste of Tuscany.

We had an amazing time discovering Siena. Alexssandro was our tour lead and he was brilliant, very knowledgeable and accommodating.
The trip itself was exactly as in description. We were i. Love with the view when stopping at the vineyard and had lunch there. Highly recommend this trip with Walkabout tour if you visit Florence 😊

This was far better than I expected. Not a “cattle call” tour. Even if we had a big group, Angela, our guide, and Nicola, our driver, managed us like pros. We did a lot! And were provided ample free time. Sienna, the winery/farm, San Gimignano and Pisa in one day was more than enough - thank goodness it’s June and there’s still light out upon return. If you have a big appetite, be prepared to purchase your own food or bring a snack, as the lunch is not meant to be a feast. (Though it was more than enough for me, and there was more than enough wine to make up for it!)

We weren't fans of our pushy and borderline rude tour guide (I'll leave her name out of it).
Essentially, you're on a bus for 12 hours with 60 or so other people. You meet at SMN train station at 8:30 or so, and you take a ride to Siena. On the way there, the tour guide lectures a bit about local history and they put on a video about the Palio, the biannual horse race. You have about 2 hours in Siena, the first 90 minutes or so of which is a guided tour with a local guide. Then, it's off to a farm outside of San Gimignano for a decent lunch. You get a quick tour of the farm first and plenty of time to purchase their products in the gift shop afterwards. Next, a quick trip up the road to San Gimignano. Since this is the nicest place you will visit on the trip, naturally, it's the shortest stop at around 90 minutes, including the time to march up to the town and back down to the meeting point even earlier than the tour guide told you to meet her there, lest she get upset. Next is a nearly 2 hour ride to grungy Pisa, and its Field of Wonders which you will reach after disembarking the bus via a golf cart train (not making this up). The FOW, I found to be disappointing. Way too many tourists and simply not that impressive if you've traveled in Italy much at all - once again, it's time that would have been much better spent in SG or Siena - but if you need to tick off that "Leaning Tower of Pisa" box, take a picture and prove to all your friends that "I've been there!", I guess...
There's a long ride (we got stuck in traffic) back to Florence, and you'll be exhausted around 9pm, having spent half your day on a bus with some very strange people (our group featured some other tourists who were genuinely strange or trashy). Avoid and make the extra effort to visit Tuscan hill towns on your own.

We booked this tour for the first Sunday of September and had the fabulous tour leader of Lavinia - Lavi!
Lavi was incredible and you could tell she loved what she did. Lavi grew up in one of the towns we were visiting on our three town Tuscany tour and her passion showed through her stories, rivalries between towns and customs.
Our first town was Siena and our local guide Roberta helped us to understand Siena more and the districts, their rivalries and their passion for the famous horse race each July and August. We were amazingly lucky that Sunday as it was the patron saint of St Francis day and two of the districts have this as their patron saint and were parading with their medieval costumes and flags throughout the town. We felt privileged to be apart of this and experienced this patriotic event.
The lunch offered at the farm was incredible and like other reviewers have said you do not go hungry! To top off our lunch a lovely man proposed to his girlfriend.
San Gimignano where Lavi grew up had that medieval feel and you can still imagine how people used to live there in the 1500s. We did get to experience the best gelato :)
Pisa was great to visit - although if you don’t want to climb the tower it does feel like a long time but being able to find a place to stop and have a drink admiring the view was worth it.
This is one of the best tours that we went on our trip. It was well organized, great places and stories to hear and the farm was amazing.
You won’t be disappointed at all by booking this tour as it gives you a taste of Tuscany and an appetite to want to come back and explore more.

We are coming from Rome by train. Is the departure point near this train station where we will arrive ?

Like the other person said. It actually meets at the train station. Anyone who tells you otherwise has no clue...

Is this tour recommended for a couple traveling with a baby (1 year old) ?
Written April 4, 2019
The whole day is about 12 hours, with 5 - 6 hours of travel time in a bus (with no restroom). All sites are stroller friendly. Probably not the best tour to take with a 1 yr old.

Hi, we are travelling to Italy on Oct 12th.
We will spend the first three days in Rome. 4th day morning, we will head to Orvieto and spend a day there. Same day evening, we reach to Montepulciano. We will have 2 nights and one full day there. Can anyone suggest a reliable tour to explore Val D'orcia, Pienza, Montalcino or other breathtaking places in southern part of Tuscamy in that one day?
Later, we will head to Siena and Florence.

Where is your tour leaving from? I took a one day trip to Tuscany from Rome and I think it was with city wonders.
Written September 28, 2018
hello. how did you book this tour? which website did you use?
Written August 14, 2018
Sorry for the delay, but it seems that others have already given my answer.
I believe TripAdvisor bought Viator, so they’re the same company.
I chose Viator when searching for tours because I have always had good experiences with them, dating back 10 years or so.
