My husband was supposed to go fishing In sorrento but due to weather it was cancelled. I reached out to fly fishing Italy and Gianluca happily arranged a fly fishing day for us. Stefano our guide was knowledgeable and so patient! We fishing all morning then had a delicious ravioli lunch with dessert! We then went to another fishing spot and fished for a few more hours. Although we didn’t catch anything, we saw several giant brown trout and the most amazing countryside! We couldn’t have asked for a better day!

Our first family trip to Italy, and my husband wanted to spend one day fishing in Tuscany as a break from sightseeing, We found Fly Fishing Italy on the Internet, and made arrangements for a guide to pick us up in Florence for a day of fly fishing for trout on the Sieve River. All equipment was provided for us, including waders and boots, as well as a picnic lunch and fishing license.

Our guide was Nicco, a lifelong fly fisherman who runs a guide service in Argentina whenhe is not guiding in zitsly. Nicco speaks excellent English, and spent several, years guiding in Montana. He has a great laid back personality and incredible knowledge of the fly fishing. My husband and I both caught trout, thanks to Nicco's excellent guiding. I especially appreciated his patience with me, because I don't have much experience fly fishing. He helped me with my casting technique and never got frustrated when I hooked a tree or got my line tangled.

The stream was beautiful, and we didn't see another soul on the river all day long. It was great to get out in the country after all the sightseeing at museums and churches. We also got some breathtaking views of the countryside on our ride to and from the river. All around, it was a great experience and something a little different to do if you eat want a break from the typical tourist activities.

Highly recommend Fly Fishing Italy!

My wife booked this as part of our honeymoon. Our guide, Alessandro, picked us up from our hotel in Florence and drove us two hours through the mountains of Tuscany to our fishing spot. He set us up with all the gear and taught us the basics before we hit the river. We spent the next three hours fishing with his (patient) guidance. We stopped for a quick lunch at a great restaurant on the side of the road and then went to another spot on the river and fished for another couple of hours before he drove us back to our hotel. I highly recommend this excursion.

The extended family spent 3 weeks in Italy. My brother-in-law and I decided we wanted to go fishing one day. We met Niccolo in a hotel parking lot and he took us up into some of the most beautiful countryside. After stopping for fishing licenses and (of course) an espresso we hit the water. The streams are gorgeous and the fish are huge. He put us on fish immediately and we spent the next 4 hours having a great time.

Then we sat down to lunch - Italian picnic style - during which Niccolo regaled us with fishing stories and stories about life in Italy and Argentina, where he spends his winters. Then we changed streams and went after fish for another 4 hours.

A nearly perfect day.

Francesco was my guide and he was quite the fishing guide. We were staying at a castle that was built in the 1200's and was about an hour outside of Florence. Francesco drove out and picked me up at 8 am and off we went. About 20 min. after we left the castle it dawned on me that I had forgot my wading boots. Francesco called ahead and arranged for a pair of boots to be waiting for us in a town somewhere along the way. We fished the Sieve river below the dam, which was probably the only clear water in Italy due to the rain. It was a beautiful river crystal clear, and a lot of nice trout. It was tough fishing because it was so clear. Easy to spook the fish and a whole lot of trees and brush to get to the river. My casting was not up to par that day and even though Francesco put me on at least 15 beautiful trout I hadn't hooked one. In fact I only made one good cast all day. We had climbed down a small cliff and were fishing on a ledge that was underwater. I was drifting a fly behind a riffle in a deep hole when I saw a fish porpoise up about 20 feet in front of me along the cliff. I picked up my fly and dropped it right in front of her nose and she hit it right away. She rolled and I saw how big she was. Fifteen minutes of heart pounding fear and excitement later Francesco netted her for the second time, she rolled out the first, and I held a 29 inch brown trout in my hands for the first time! Franseco worked hard to get me that fish and he deserves a lot of the credit
