A really suggestive museum, full of insights on a very important part of the history of Florence. The work of art are very valuable and the tour is great for kids as well. At the end we had a coffee at the bar on the rooftop terrace with a view over the Duomo, amazing!

The museum's history is so rich and sad and beautiful. It invoked in me so many feelings and emotions. The gift shop is so beautiful too!

The history of the foundling hospital is told in three parts. On the outside, take a look at the babies in swaddling clothes on the outside of the Brunelleschi building -- beautiful terra cottas by Della Robbia. Inside the museum, the first floor is the history of the orphanage for abandoned babies -- the foundling hospital -- told in video, artifacts, and letters. And on the second floor, a great art collection dedicated to pictures of babies, with the Madonna and Child predominant. Master works by Ghirlandaio, Botticelli, di Cosimo and much more. Very interesting museum space.

We stumbled across this museum whilst searching for another point of interest and due to the ease of entry and very reasonable ticket price, decided to give it a try. I am so very pleased that we did as it was a fascinating place and we spent around 2 hours in its company. It is very interactive and I would highly recommend purchasing the audio tour as it really brought the story to life. Well worth a visit - highly recommended
